Q:

My new R3.5 std .25 Edgun

I have a couple inquiries regarding my new toy. I have it zero’d at 43y. According to chairgun pro, after I have plugged in all appropriate figures it states that at the thickest part of the reticle after the last crosshairs (SR12 reticle @ 24x mag) it should be at 82 yards….but, that is actually my 100y !!! The second dot where it suppose to be 59y I’m actually at 82y!! Can someone pls help. What am I doing wrong??

On Chairgun mobile I have to put pellet BC at .030 to get it close(within a yd) to actual ballistic impacts.

Marine,

What Demp says here is important.

The BC Demp posted earlier will produce more drop in Chairgun (0.034 vs 0.037). The closer the BC is to 0, the more drag (therefore more drop) it is displaying. The closer it is to 1, the less drag (the less drop).

Once I have all the variables set in Chairgun (velocity, pellet weight, scope height, zero point, click dimension) I too adjust the BC to match my actual drop printed on the targets (via matching the clicks). :8:

Oh and make sure your click dimension matches your scope. You’ll get a different reading if Chairgun is set to 1/8″ clicks and your scope has 1/4″ clicks…! πŸ˜†

Chairgun is a great tool once you get the hang of everything! :4:

Yes on distances. The original owner who had 25 for appx a month adjusted reg and lubed everything up. He put around 700 shots on it. I’ve put little over 7k pellets through it and am soon to open up reg and recheck/lub things. Just ran strings last night and I’m at a solid 885 fps. 10fps max with a 2.6 SD for 76 shots from 200-105bar. I’ve checked over everything else on gun, happy with I lead and crown, polished trigger blade and screw tip to mirror finish and very smooth now.
My shot string got crazy like yours until I got into the 2k pellet range and then Started settling. Also really helps to keep gun in exact spot in relation to chrony for most accurate readings with bright light on diffusers.

@demp, have you made any adjustments or mods to your matador? internally I have done zero mods.

Are you hunting/shooting at those distances?? @demp

i will try that tomorrow on the ‘range’. thank you very much for the figures!!!!

FYI that’s with 2.25″ scope height with the Hawke Sidewinder 8-32×56.
Zero of 96. 4th mildot is 131 yd mark and group spread is pretty much on the mark.
On Chairgun mobile I have to put pellet BC at .030 to get it close(within a yd) to actual ballistic impacts.
Main reason I have a reticle yardage guide stuck to scope.

thanks demp

My Edgun R3 (new style valve) 25 Long at 890fps with JSB 25 is giving me a BC of .034 per chrono readings at 3 ft and 50yds per Chairgun. Impact drop at 131yds(1.5″ group) matches mil dot per Chairgun calc. Zeroed at 96 with Hawke Sidewinder 30 8-32×56 1/2 mildot @20x.

JSB Exact Kings in the 25.4 grain variety have a BC of 0.0370…

There should be a pull down menu with the BC’s for a whole bunch of pellets.

Use ChairGun3, the new version stinks. πŸ˜‰

I have noticed that my 177 Matador (18″ barrel) has a flatter trajectory than my 177 USFT (24″ barrel). Kind of strange since they are both using the same pellets at the same speeds. πŸ˜•

whats the BC on the jsb exact? The only figures I have entered are the pellet weight and my zero, everything else is at default. I figured it would at least get me close.By no means did I assume it was the chairgun pros’ fault. lol i’m sure its my fault. I was just trying to figure if someone here ran into the same problem. Thanks again.

If you don’t know the actual velocity there is no way to determine the proper drop at distance…

It’s like trying to solve the following problem accurately: How long does it take me to drive 100 miles?

Depends on how fast i’m going right? πŸ˜‰

I have also found that my BC from an EdGun barrel is different than the BC from my normal LW barrel. Unless you actually develop the BC for the particular rifle Chairgun will only get you close. Sometimes REALLY close sometimes not so close.

I would bet you have a decimal point wrong some where in the equation. I make this mistake all the time when entering a BC. I enter .30 instead of .03. Anyway, check your numbers and then check them again. It is unlikely that the software is calculating this wrong.

The pellet velocity is a huge factor in this calculation. So is the scope height. You need to have all the parameters in the mix or the Chair Gun wonΒ΄t do you much good.

so what muzzle velocity is currently set in chair gun? many .25 standards were shipped shooting 925-930 fps but you really want a chronograph to make things easier…
scope height? also an important factor…

Q

No I don’t have a chrony..guess that would help some.
