Q:

My New Vulcan .25 Shot String

Shot a string of JSB Kings over the chronograph. It seems to consume lots of air and the velocity has a downward trend. Have shot 200 pellets so far. Shoots thick skirt AirArms better than thin skirt JSB Kings
So what do you guys think, any suggestions.

Guys,,,

i have tried my friend’s Vulcan few days ago, it was really surprised me with the weird ES, the velocity dropped down from 909 FPS to 865 FPS then up then down,,, i will post the string here,,,i really want to fix it and find out the issue,,,

something is wrong with the regulator i guess

i was guessing the same,,, but i said,,lets not to touch the reg at the first time,,,and try all possibility before touching the reg,,, if no use,,then i suppose to disassemble the gun ,,,

If you have a regulator tester for Vulcan then check the regulator set pressure and consistency.

jsb variation in weight can be up to 5%, typically it is better but that was the factory spec.

do you weight you pellets before chrony testing?

having said that, when my gun was new had MANY replica readings, but I never run it at full power.

Take gun out to 80 yards. It shows

Yes there are some larger variations in the string but the poi didn’t change and it kept shooting 1/2″ and lesser groups at 50 yards.

I’m only talking about sending regulator. Everything else works great. I just believe the regulator needs some work

eelect: A lot of people would argue that a 1500 and up gun shouldn’t need to goto ernest that is why there are some many impact haters. Obviously you and I don’t feel that way.

I think this is typical of Vulcan regulator. I’m planning on sending mine to Ernest for a going over. I get 6 great shots out of my mag . 3 of those shots are out to lunch at 80 yards. I figured after 10k rounds the regulator would smooth out but there should be no sudden 8 fps drops in the shot string

Went out today and took few shots over the chronograph.

Shot less than 1/2″ groups at 50 yards. Its performance seems to be improving session by session.

why people mess with their regs?
was too difficult to adjust the HST?

next time you adjust both right.

Took the regulator out and checked it with the tester. It was at 140 bars. Brought it down to 135 bars. Loosened the valve by half a turn. Haven’t touched the hammer spring yet. It was getting dark so shot 2 mags over chronograph. 3 errors due to low light. Consumes less air now.
