Q:

My personal favorite Edgun, .22 Short

I don’t hear a lot of mention of the shorts, but for those that have never played with one of these it is just awesome. Truly my favorite air gun, The size of a cricket at 27″, perfectly balanced and just makes me smile every time I pull it up to plink at something or pop a starling out the window. I got the single load breech from Tony so I can have this one both ways in 20 minutes or so for the changeover from R3M to R3. When you carry it at your side, I stick a couple of fingers thru. and grab the angled part of the stock behind the grip and it will carry just about level. J ust too fun… I started to make 3 videos tonight shooting shook up root beer cans with each of the .22, .25, .30 but the differences in result were negligible on video so did not bother posting on YT so no links to share. I like the bigger bores too but my .22’s really get it done 99% of the time.

Everything mechanical breaks. That`s for sure!

I just ordered a couple of valve stems for my 30 cal like Ride. I hope it gets a lot more than 1000 shots before it breaks like his but mine is just over that number of shots. My velocity is set a bit lower but not by much – maybe 10 fps. I think it depends several variables. I have over 2000 shots on my .25 std Matador set at 915 fps and I know that some have had valve stem breaks way before that. I think the .177s should be good for over 10000 shots. Crickets break too – at least the old ones. I have a Cricket spare too.

You may get yours before i´ll get mine. There´s a wait involved in .25 Crickets and mine is to be send at the same time with one of those buggers. I have no hurry so this suits me fine – i don´t have to pay any shipment from Finland to Sweden that way. I´m a cheap bastard thus i cry every time i take a dump – i won´t let anything go easily.
The weather is shit too so it´s too cold to shoot outside and i still haven´t got the final answer to that indoor “range” i told you about so who cares. After owning a couple of EdGun´s i´m used to the waiting game …
I´ll get that Carbine to test at the same time too ! 😆

Cool. My bonus should arrive at the end of February to fund the new years toys. I just bought a car so I am behaving for a few weeks.

Yep. And i beat you to it too !! :biggrinn: Just placed an order for a .177 Compact at Websales and get it delivered together with a .25 WST when the new batch of them .25´s arrive , since one of my friends will have one of those. The .25´s seem to be in demand for some reason – or i quess the reason is they shoot so damn well – and are sold out virtually all over the United States of Europe …

I´ll tune the Compact to shoot JSB Exact Heavies 10.3gr at 285 mps or so. A good shot count and enough power for any .177 duties i may encounter in my Backyard… :winkn:

We will make an honest .177 airgunner out of the Sir yet. :biggrinn:

Standard cricket is 27″ long,

my compact .177 and .22 are under 25″

I just swap out the probe and barrel take about 5min.

I know you seen the photo, but love looking at it!

Crickets are shorter and more compact + lighter then Edguns

think steve have more compact, he sent 4 in the last month to be tuned, last one I tuned the member wanted it at 20fpe, so I gave him 21fpe at 130 shots. I’ll check if he has more, his vary busy and tend to forget–like me!

What is this talk about them .177´s being special order ?? Are they that in US ?? 😯

The Compact really is a compact at 24″ . I´ll buy one of those when the snow´s gone and use it for backyard duties.

Man, those little guns have got to be a LOT fo fun! 😀

The Compact .177s are special order so there is a little delay. I am sure you can order one but it might take a few weeks.

quote RIDETOEAT:

I asked Steve about a .22 compact cricket but no response yet, he was headed to shot show when we talked last and was not sure he could find me one, I am sure he’d of called back if he did !!

Nearly a Cricket. :suprisedn: My Cricket Standard .22 is my favorite sparrow gun/plinker as well. There may be competition with a .177 Compact Cricket when I get it at 24.5″ in the next month or two.

I have a standard too and it does crack a tinge louder but it is shooting faster at this time so I am not sure it is if all things were equal. It is the one I grab every time. I am dying to set up my bench outside and have 75-80 here at home but for now,it is so damn cold the Ohio river is freezing all the way across here today, first time since 1978.

Nice, I like the size and versatility, is it quite? If I could only have one this might be my pick. 😀 😀

Regards
LarryW
