Nice gun !

never owned one though. Perhaps one day.

Surely you jest ! 😉

You shouldn’t be amazed, that’s a beautiful airgun. While most of us like the power of our AF guns, we still appreciate other airguns and powder burners. Thanks for sharing and in my case, thanks for the education. 😀

Guys this is a Theoben SLR 98.
It’s a gas ram, magazine fed, seven shot underlever. It has an integral sound moderator and comes in .177 and .22 cal.
The stock is made by Custom Stocks Sheffield, the rifle comes in either standard sporter stock or thumbhole like mine.

The scope rings are Theoben, they bolt directly to the receiver top and are central and rock solid.
There is a single shot adaptor that replaces the magazine.

Power is just under 12fpe in it’s native land and Theoben can supply up to 18fpe for export.

The plastic magazine is loaded with seven pellets then dropped into the action. The underlever is locked forward and this drives an internal probe that feeds a pellet into the breech. After shooting the underlever is recycled to reload the next pellet. One bad feature is that there is no hold open device on the last shot. However there is a little window in the mag that shows a white flag on shot six and a red flag on shot seven.
As the rifle cost me £700 I am very careful when I check for the red flag!

Hope this sheds some light on my 98,I am amazed that it has caused a stir, but then it is a classic!

Bob 🙂

Thats 1 beautiful springer. Can’t wait to hear more about it.

Please forgive my ignorance, but what is it? It looks it like it is wearing a Air Arms stock. Is it an AA product?

As soon as this snow disappears I’ll go to the range and do some comparative groups.

Damned cold here up in the hills! 😆

Stunning. I’ve always been a fan of the SLR.. never owned one though. Perhaps one day.

Can you post some groups with it when you have time?

I like that. That’s a nice looking rig 😀

Thanks.
The engineering is superb even though the mag is plastic. This rifle likes any .177 ammo due to the choked barrel.I’ve head shot rabbits at 60 yds,no problem.

Interestingly the power can be changed by attaching a pump to the rear of the action, this will beef up the gas ram a little, but mine likes to run at just under 12 fpe with H&N FTTs.

That is a sweet gun
