Mystery Parts Fell Out or Off
Can anyone identify these parts? When I swapped barrels, I had to tap the muzzle on a padded piece of wood on the floor to get the 12″ barrel out far enough to grab it. Two broken molded rubber pieces fell on the floor either out of the gun or off the gun. I have no idea what they are. I checked the Barska green laser, AirMax scope, AF bipod, and don’t see or feel anything missing. I finished the barrel swap, zeroed the gun back in and all seems fine. Help ❗

My new Condor SS received on 26, Oct 2013 has also broken off from poor assembly at AirForce factory

You are not alone with your (2) mystery parts, I have the same looking parts from my new TalonSS, received on 29,Aug2013. Look closely at the back of your pistol grip, there are (2) halves (or should be) of a locating dimple that fits into the hole @ the end of the frame. Evidently, who-ever assembled the pistol-grip to your TalonSS (like mine), neglected to place a plain washer under the #10-32 Soc. Head Cap Screw that mounts the pistol grip to the frame. The head of the cap screw (with-out a washer) sinks into the plastic interface (split) surface, causing the grip-halves to separate & loosen the grip. Walla – broken parts!

AirForce confirms there are no molded parts like this photo inside the frame. Their response was fast and I am satisfied.
Are there any rubber parts, other than seals around the breech, hammer, and bolt? I cocked the bolt during this last barrel swap so that I could feel where the barrel was coming through. I also had the power wheel backed off. The sliding bolt assembly was really loose and wobbly and I thought it would fall out.
When the barrel was installed properly, power back up to around 10, all the above looseness went away and gun shoots and feels normal again.
Well, mine is over 8 years old now, and it came with it. 😉 If it really does any thing, I can’t tell it! 🙄
When did they switch from using that as a spring de-resonator? My condor ss is only a couple weeks old and i would think that at the rate these things go out of stock that i would have the newest pieces and parts. I dont notice anything different in the sound after removing it but then again maybe i am also deaf 😛 could i slide something back into that slot to replace it or would it be better to remove the innards and re install a new de-resonator? Even if i knew what it was i probably would have still removed it and replaced it with something that would hold up better. I could be wrong but that tag does not look like it would last long term getting dragged back and fourth by the spring. Sry for the hijack.
😯 😆 😆 😆 🙄 That piece of paper is a spring de-resonator. It keeps the twang down. It is supposed to be there! 😆
They now use a piece of plastic rather that paper sorta like a price tag.
I have used a piece of blue masting tape for years. Damed newbies, tearing shit up when they have no idea in hell what they are doing, or why. 😆 (Been there-Done that) 😳
Keeps the tuners in green backs. 😉
Now about the piece of molded plastic. From the shape of it. ( It is plastic isn’t it?), It is somthing that accidently got into the slot on top of the action. If the hammer is cocked, and somthing falls in, it will eventually find its way into the cocking notch milled in the underside of the breach. I have had a pellet or two come out looking exactly the same way. 😉

These two black rubbery parts have the rounded surfaces molded and the other surfaces are torn as if they were torn off something. As long as they don’t belong to the Talon I’m satisfied.
Since I’ve changed barrels twice before, I think any loose or extra things would have already fallen out.
They look like rubber nubs or bumpers that were attached to something else.
I just had my gun tore apart and removed the barrel and there was nothing resembling those pieces. But the one funny thing to add is when i got my condor i noticed what appeared to be a piece of paper inside that slot by the pw when i cocked the gun. So i grabbed some needle nose pliers and pulled it out and it did no come easy but once it was removed it said hammer spring on it. So i guess who ever assembles these things need the parts labeled and forgot to remove that one 🙄 So maybe it is something that got left behind that was not suppose to be left in there.
I have three barrels and have done the swap 3-4 times. This time I thought the 12″ barrel was in all the way and secured the bushings but didn’t realize the screws were beside the bushing and not INTO the bushing. The breech was really wobbly so I removed all the screws and started over. That’s when I tapped out the close fitting barrel to realign the holes and start over. While tapping the barrel out, that’s when these mystery parts appeared. Again, tapping out the barrel means tapping the muzzle on a padded surface on the floor.
Maybe they are around the breech or hammer someplace?
They may be Chinese industry spy bots, but with AirForce research and development/quality control being what it is, you would think they would be the ones spying on the Chinese.
Says a lot for quality control now doesn’t it when unnecessary parts hit the floor? 😛
Seriously, been into those AF guns more times than Ronald Regan got into Nancy and I have no idea what they are.
