Q:

Need advice on scuba tank size and fittings

Which size scuba tank do you guy’s recommend, 3000 or 4500 psi and do the 4500 psi tanks come with K valves? I’ve never seen the 4500 with the K valve setup. I know there’s a big cost diference between the 2 but from what I’ve read with the amount of refills and weight the carbon fiber 4500 size may be the way to go?

Thanks

I own a 30 cuft @3000psi for easy filling at the gun range. I have a dive shop close and I shoot 1500psi in 177 and 2300psi in 22.

A 100cuft 3500psi a good compromise between 4500 and 3000 but that sucker is heavy 30-40lbs.

4500psi carbon fiber is light and definitely the way to go f you can afford the price.

Some good news…. Second hand scuba equipment might be a great way to get started and trade it in when you’ve “found your footing”.

Ooops, kinda missed that, thanks!!

Go to the link GTBJ sent you, it shows the air fittings pretty clear.

Don’t even get me started on the price of BB slugs! 😉

I guess I need to check around and see who can fill what at what psi. I normally only pump my gun up to 2500 psi and it does what I want for sure.
Thanks for all the input, if anyone knows the type fittings I would need for the 4500 tank chime in. All I have now is the one that came with the whole pkg deal that workd on K valves.

It is true that you can set-up guns to run at about 2K and get lots of fills from a 3K tank. However, just as soon as you do; airgun fever will strike! You’ll buy some high power air hog and need a new 4.5K tank.

if your budget allows, scba is def. the way.

HOWEVER, its importance varies depending upon how your rig is set up.

if youre set up to shoot a long string of, say, jsb, at reasonable velocities, you can easily do so without breaking 2-2.5k.

just a thought, most of which are useless… 🙄

the 4500 is the way to go as long as you have a place that can fill it or you are the proud owner of your own shoebox!

k vales are not rated for that kind of psi, so no they are not on the 4500lbs tanks, I believe the vales are called a DIN(not 100% on that)

bet man to talk with on tanks is Joe over at http://www.airtanksforsale.com/
