Forgot to ask. Does the barrel riding hammer perform similarly on the Condor and TSS?

I had a friend machine me some new Delrin bushings to make my stock hammer ride on the frame. I did this because my gun from the factory had an issue with a burr inside the frame that wore out the stock bushing and caused some awful chatter and misfires.

The rest of the tooling for my lathe will be here sometime tomorrow and I am going to start machining new barrel riding bushings for this 95g hammer and also vent my barrel bushings.

Other posts suggest a barrel riding hammer will reduce chatter, increase accuracy, and smooth the cocking process. There seems to be more, in depth, discussion on the barrel riders in years past. Now, not so much, like the idea never really took off.

I would think barrel riders would be more common if they were superior to the frame riders. Do the advantages of a barrel rider outweigh those of a frame rider? What are they? Are there any downsides to the barrel rider, other than it’s one more thing to throw money at?

Seems to me the barrel rider woukd be a good thing, but what do I know? 😕 😕

Specific benefits/detriments from owners/builders would be appreciated.

lh,

Out of curiosity, what do you expect to gain with a barrel rider as apposed to a frame rider? ❓ ❓

more surface area, equals stronger hammer face. longer life, less likely to break.

Did you guys forget that I make them.

leupy’s custom does a barrel riding hammer
