Need FPS #’s – Talon SS .22 w Micro tank.
HI Guys,
I haven’t been on this forum for a while, and was hoping by now that someone would have some real world chrony fps #’s of a Talon SS in .22 cal with a micrometer tank. Shot count and consistency would help. Considering getting one for sparrow pest control in grocery stores, and don’t want to over-penetrate walls, roofs, etc…, but when I hit them, I want them dead.
Used a .177 for a while, but sometimes they’d still fly off before hitting the floor, and it went straight through them at 550 fps with an R7. Hoping larger pellet for greater impact at slower speed (around 450 fps) will help with immediate kills. Yes I know the important part is where you hit them, but I’m not perfect and just want to improve my chances for a kill. Never shoot over 15-20 yards. Or should I stick with .177?
Thanks,
Scrench

AF told me to expect around 120 consistent shots. Problem is, most of the folks I’ve heard from scream about the inconsistency of the MM Tank.
Just talk with Tony about a restrictive valve spring retainer. I get around 90 shots at 14fpe in .177 from a 18 inch barrel or 80 shots at 16fpe from a 12 inch barrel using it. I’m sure with a bit of tweaking, one can drop power even more and get more shots.
