Need Help Disassembling Older Talon Tank
I was considering sending off or finding someone locally to hydro test my tank made in 6/99′. I know if I mail it has to be degassed. As I understand it I just use the fill fitting with a couple of coins inside and slowly screw in and slowly allow the air to escape. If the tank passes then maybe I might install a regulator and or replace seals. That’s where my tank is different from newer tanks I have seen on youtube. I do not have a separate break down hole in the tank collar. I have a hole that has what I think is the burst disk. Do I use this opening by unscrewing the fitting to access and use this hole. Or do I just tape the tank collar and wrap the tank and place in a vise. Then use a pair of channel locks to take off the end.

That valve is going to be a real PIA to get off.
Some would suggest just removing that burst disk set up and use that hole for leverage.
I always find doing that is most likely to damage the threads resulting in leaks.
When I get an old tank like that in the first thing I do after degassing is drill a .300 hole in the
valve body opposite the disk for leverage. All the newer tanks have the dead hole in them to remove the valve.
