Q:

Need help…short or Standard

Hey guys long time reader, short time member.
I really enjoy reading through this forum, the shit that happens here is absolutely historical in the air rifle world!
Anyways I’m in the market for another Edgun.
Yes that’s right another I own 2 currently.
A matador R3M .25 standard, and a Lelya .20 gen2. Both have offset mods. But I’m currently looking at getting another R3M in .22.
My question is I need some opinions as to which model length to get, I understand this is personal question for the end user but at the same time it would be nice to hear some experiences. Or regrets.
I’m trying to decide between the Standard or Short.
I’m hoping it will be a go to rifle, kind of a do it all type bulpup.
Thanks guys.

Hi Frank,

You have probably seen this before, but just in case you haven’t 😉

I have R3 in standard (.22 & .25) and long myself, being a collosal 5’8″ in height I do find the standard fits just that little better – It just depends what you are going to do with it – shoot from a vehicle, hide shooting, stalking etc
Whichever you choose, short or standard, you are going to enjoy it :tag:

Hi Cad,

Yes just watched that last night!
Yah I’m thinking it will be a rifle that will be carried a lot and shot from awkward positions.
Also I’m leaning towards the short because I do have the standard in .25, so maybe it would be a nice combo.
Also Thank you for the warm welcome sir.

Brother Frank,

i own the .22cal STD for about 9 months, and the long years,,, but when i took my STD for hunt 1st time,,, my long stored since that time,, i can say the best time i had with my .22cal STD …even more than my Long .25cal(sold) & .22cal …

i own the short but i don’t have that much experience with it… but very comfortable and accurate as well… and since i use them for hunting inside the cars ,,,so the more shorter is the more comfortable and the best for my goal….

i think this depends on you,,, for what purpose do you use your guns?? so you can choose ,,,

Sir Hemn,

Thank you very much.
As I said before I’m a long time reader and you sir I feel like I know you for a long time (as well as other avid Edgun posters). I’ve read majority of your responces and posts.
Thank you for your response and honest opinion!
I do however worry buying a Short and neglecting the Lelya.
But I’m interested in the size.
