Q:

Need help to complete LDC design

I have built an inexpensive LDC that is very effective at noise reduction, but to perfect the design I need what I believe to be 1″ outside diameter pipe to slip-fit inside the Talon/Condor frame. Then I can securely attach the LDC and prevent clipping. My local hardware store does not have any, so where can I get pipe that will just precisely fit inside the Airforce frame? It’s obviously out there somewhere. I don’t want thin pipe as it is subject to bending and distortion, and if the slip-fit gets out of round, you get clipping. I’m thinking 1/8″ or 3/16″ minimum thickness would do, preferably not aluminum but maybe that would work.

If I can get some pipe that works, the design will be simple, effective, and cost under $20 to build and paint. I’ll share the completed design with this board.

galvinized and cheap as hell couple wraps of tape workes wonders.

1″ tube will still fit loose unless you add tape to shim it. You might try a piece of copper if you are not wanting to use aluminum. The ID of the frame ranges from 1.008″ to about 1.012″.

search GTBJ shrouds, I believe he uses the 1″ tube with tape for a shim.

I didn’t take the time to look but, I would bet that you could find aluminum tubing that would work at McMaster Carr.
