Q:

Need help w/chosing the right type LW barrel (not length)

I want to get a .25 crowned LW barrel for my Condor but I would like first to understand what types of LW barrels are available. My Condor has a “heavy” LW barrel (.22) with different bushings according to its previous owner. Are there “lighter” LW barrels, or “extra heavy” ones that differ in the outter diameter (OD)? What is the advantage of having a heavier or heavy duty barrel? Is the rifling harder in those barrels?

I ‘ve been reading about people getting their LW barrels directly from the LW distributor for what seemed to be very “cheap” ($100 for .22 barrels) to me.. I was thinking of contacting the LW distributor but I want to be knowledgeable about these barrels first before I call them and sound like I ‘m clueless, or end up getting something that doesn’t fit in my Condor.. Has anyone purchased directly from the LW distributor in the US? Do they sell the bushings too (or vented ones)? The prices seem much cheaper than TalonTunes, but I ‘m not sure if they include bushings or not.

What is the advantage of buying the barrel from TalonTunes? Does Tony polish it before shipping it out? I guess he would at least inspect them.. I ‘m just trying to make the right decision, and understand the different types of LW barrels and their advantages or disadvantages.

A barrel from LW will not be cut down at the breach end to fit into the frame, it also will not come with bushings. Tony cuts it down, machines some bushing, and polishes it all up, which is why it costs so much more that a blank barrel.
