I still want one to shoot my neighbor’s chickens with, but it has to look like their heads simply exploded on their own. It can be done, but the gun has to be pretty quiet, at least from 30 meters or so.
Has anyone made something of this nature for the Lelya?

auctally i’ve compared with my friend’s R3 .22 standard matador and my R3 matador .25 long :
Lelya = .22 < .25

Well Hoot, This explains a Lot! And the very reason I eat chicken every chance I get. Fried, baked, boiled, and holy of holy’s, chicken and dumplings. π π And for a real feast, throw in a squirrel.

When I was but a lad, I was raised in rural Illinois in a house with one light bulb hanging from the main room ceiling, no hot water heater, no bath tub, and a coal fired, pot bellied stove…this would have been around 1948-49.
We had a garden, and raised chickens. My summer shorts were made from the fabric from the chicken feed bags we bought each Spring, when we obtained our fresh batch of poultry chicks, which cost anywhere from a penny to two cents apiece, depending on what kind they were.
The producers of the chicken feed realized women would buy their chicken feed based on the patterns and colors of the bags, not the contents. This material was often used to hand sew little dresses, or boys shorts. I never wore a shirt in the Summer. The men worked in factories, or on farms, and the women and children did the home grown food thing all Summer.
Even at that tender age I was required to do my share of chicken beheading, by means fair or foul…or should I say “fowl”?
Each Fall, we would start to harvest the chickens. Our menu for the Winter was the cold-packed jars of vegetables from the garden, and the flesh of the Rhode Island Red, Plymouth Rock, and evil tempered Leghorn chickens. Now and then we would have squirrel or rabbit in the mix. Pears were about the only fruit we got, as we had a pear tree in the front yard. I remember in the first grade, we would each get to take home an apple once a week, when they were in season. We were lined up, and under the careful eye of the teacher we were allowed to pick up one apple from the basket as we exited the school. About the only things we got at the store was lard, flour, and some seasonings. Very few people owned a car, and times were hard. I didn’t know we were poor because everybody I knew was poor.
Back to the beheading of the foul fowl.
At first, I was taught to “wring” the necks of the chicken. Whereby a chicken is grasped by the head, and rapidly twirled in a circle until it’s head detached from the body. What took place next was a sight to behold….blood, chicken flopping about…more blood…more flopping about, all over the yard, for a good two to three minutes.
Many a Combed commando attacked me, as I fed these feathered fiends each day, flapping, clawing, spurring me, a mere five to six years old. I swore revenge at a tender age. I made good, and many a barnyard bird barked up its corn when I laid hands on its neck, and began to pretend it was a propeller!
Not many people today know how bad a chicken smells when dunked in extremely hot water, while being plucked. Even fewer know the technique of burning off the pin feathers, prior to evisceration of the dumb clucks!
Since we did not have refrigeration in those days, we could only cull two or three a week to put in our “ice box”. Each day a horse drawn wagon would come by and sell a block of ice that fit exactly into the box at the top of the “ice box”. Cold air drops, and the storage box beneath the ice box was kept at a reasonable 45 degrees or so in the Summer. In the Winter, we kept perishables out on the porch in the double rinse tubs for the Maytag wringer washer. Kept covered with a couple of rugs, food remained fine, as long as the temperature outside stayed below 45 to 50 degrees. Now and then the ice man would chip off a chunk of ice for my sister and myself, and we would run under the Forsythia bush “fort” we had, and munch on the ice in the heat of the noon day sun.
To this day, I despise chickens, and all they stand for. However, I delight in eating fried chicken…remembering all those puncture wounds and scratches from the ever present rooster that was the master of the chicken yard.
In answer to your original question, it makes no difference how the head is extracted, the bird “does the dance” regardless, and that lasts for two to three minutes. I base this on wringing, using a hatchet, a sharp knife, and just plain pulling the head off by brute force.
It was a bloody, disgusting, smelly, physically straining task, but in rural Illinois in 1948, that’s how you acquired the privilege of eating every day. If you didn’t pick it, grow it, raise it, or kill it, you didn’t get to eat it. Thank god for black-eyed peas and navy beans, or I wouldn’t have lived to adulthood.
I find that whole sequence of my life unsettling, and quite strange, when I stop to think about it today. Oddly, we all walked to school, as there were no school buses in those days. I had to walk down a large hill, and then up another large hill to make the three miles to school. Coming home, it was the same thing…down and back up those long hills. So, I can say I walked to school every day, and it was uphill both ways…and that’s the honest truth.

I am in the midst of contriving a Lelya reflex moderator that will add little to the length of the little lady but will hopefully allow the remote exploding of chicken heads with little chance of the perpertrator being revealed π
I will try to keep you informed of events π
In the mean time if you do mange to explode any chicken heads can you confirm or not that the myth about chickens running around without said heads is true or not.
Maybe in the true persuance of scientific excellence you need to compare a subject with a chopped off head with one exposed to an exploded cranium, it may well make a difference to the actual amount of post traumatic running β
I’ve always wondered how quiet the Lelya is.

Did I originally quote your post?
Did you say anything that remotely reflects my statements?
The answer is SIMPLE. I didn’t say anything directly to you and there was nothing you said that even comes close to the point I was making.
Why wouldn’t you ever speak the truth about someone from your own country? π One, it’s your right, two, it’s absolutely essential to keeping this nation away from where it is headed.
But you are failing to see the entire point of my original post now that you are on about “ethics”, which I would argue is total crap. True ethics would actually be doing exactly what you said you would not do…
Anyways, obviously I wasn’t directing anything I was saying originally to your post.
Here? You mean where i’m sitting right now? You mean the country where I was born? Where my ancestors came to in the late 1600’s? π
If you feel you can exercise yours then i’m free to exercise mine, right?
Or not if I happen to say something that is true and also hurtful? π
We also have something over “here” called innocent until proven guilty, remember that one too…? π
I figured if Ed answered PERSONALLY he must know something we don’t? Or maybe he is fine with someone building off of his ideas, I believe even Ed mentioned something about how he worked with things other people designed and used them to his advantage. π
My question was if you were implying if I was one of the people who you called “stereotype or is racist” now if you want to bypass that and go into the topic of U.S constitution than so be it….the issue with innocent till proven guilty is very much true and never once did I say he was guilty by using info to make his own version of a Layla…please read and understand my post. Nothing offensive or discriminating was posted on my behalf. With what you posted it seems like your not too happy being an American, stating “They blame China for problems their own people created and perpetuate, just like another American stereotype of hypocritically blaming others for their own problem”…
Now I’m a realist and know the U.S is on a downward spiral but never will I talk about fellow Americans the way you just did…but beyond that I’m done discussing ethics…ill agree to disagree with your opinion… hope this doesnt ruin the brotherhood we could have on this site..have a good day sir.

Unless you happen to have a dark skin and/or are covered in a burka and happen to be born into another religion, – still by US parents and born in the US of A……. π
And/or have a Spanish mother tongue, – still born by US parents in the US of A…
And/or happen to say the wrong things on Yellow…………
And/or……..
And/or….
But that’s another story………. π
PS: Sorry, but I could not resist….. π³ π³ π³
I thought jumping on our Chinese friend was a bit over the top. I’m sure the Chinese may have more sophisticated ways to get the information they need……. π
They blame China for problems their own people created and perpetuate, just like another American stereotype of hypocritically blaming others for their own problems… π
Anyone can make a reproduction of an EdGun, but it will NEVER be an EdGun!
I would only hope your not referring to my post because my post was regarding the copy right laws and how china is within rights to make a replica of the edgun. Even tho it would be messed up….but then again like you posted nobody can make an edgun except ED…..now being an American myself I do find your view on Americans alittle hateful…but hey over here we have something called freedom of speech.
