Q:

Need new hammer spring tension screw

I accidentally broke the silver HST screw when trying to decrease the pressure on the spring πŸ™

I wrote Ed about the possibility of ordering a new one and he will probably get back to me soon.

Are there any other sources for that particular part?
I remember someone on the forum had a custom made one… with some knurls on it.

So… someone sitting on factory ones or even custom ones?

This is the one… the big silver screw holding the spring:

Thanks, Q

qpush,

Don’t know if you can blame the hands or not after all the hands have to be told what to do! LOL. Glad to hear you were able to get a hold of Ed to resolve the problem, nothing worse than having a gun sitting around idle.

Murphy’s law Trygve,

anything that can go wrong generally does go wrong sooner or later – you just have to wait for the right idiot for it to happen πŸ™‚

No wonder it was so hard turning the HST screw…

Yes, I was in contact with Ed and he will send me a new one, together with a new hammer spring piston which I managed to f**k up too…

ohh, me and my humpty dumpty hands.

Hmmmmm…..

First time I’ve heard of this particular problem, and I’m scratching my head to try to understand. Anyway, -problem noted and a hint to other users to be careful….. πŸ˜‰

There are lots of friendly people on here with lathe skills, – so a replacement screw should not be too difficult to find I think. Have you heard back from ED/Tony ???

Removal of the part inside: Isn’t it possible to drill two small holes in the remaining part and unscrew it using a snap ring plier ???

Cheers
Trygve πŸ˜€

Just wanted to mention the reason it broke in the first place…

To adjust the HST I loosened the small locking screw… well, not enough it turned out.
As i was turning the HST screw the looking screw was wearing it down which led to fracture.

Im just wondering how to get the part out that is still stuck inside the threaded hole.

Why oh why.. why dont I leave things the way they are, always taking things apart trying to improve things – not very improved now without a HST screw πŸ™‚
