Q:

Need some direction on building a 9mm Condor please

Okay I have a few follow Condor owners wanting a 9mm conversion with that in mind I would like some advise on what I need to look at.

1. Unchoked 9mm LW 24″ barrel will be used.

2. 490 or 858cc tank will be used.

3. New breech will be machined (delrin?, brass?, aluminum?).

4. New 1 piece tophat will be machined.

5. New hammer, any idea what weight is best?

6. New barrell bushings will be machined.

7. Will a new valve be needed?

8. What projectile weight and what velocity is possible?

Any direction and advice is really appreciated.

Thank you

Randy

I understand. I do have the E-tac. I’m going to run 3,000 psi. Thinking abought weight savings and a longer tank. Looks like the 4,500 is 4″ longer. Do you just buy the 3,000 tank and toss the PB regulator?

They are 62 ci aluminum 3000 psi. They come with 5/8-18 threads. I put the 18mm threads in mine. You have to run a etac on the 4500 psi tanks. I won’t rethread them.

Dyotat100 “Tanks are guerilla 62 ci paintball tanks” are you talking about 3000 or 4500 psi tanks. Is there a source for these tanks without the unnecessary valve. I see some of the 4500 tanks are a savings of about a half to 1 lb. of weight.
Looking to buy a 4500 tank now and one of your valves if you get them produced.

Would he be interested in making the parts for my valve? I went yesterday for a second quote on making 40-50 of each of the pieces of my valve. Takes me to long to make a valve on my manual lathe to make it worth my time to sell them.

Looking for something to use close range such as small deer, any ideas on a valve would be great my buddy has a full CNC shop.

Thanks

Randy

My .308 is a LW. I have done 2 and both have shot real well. Barrels are 28″ long and 1-16 twist. I have 3 more on order. They bring them in air frieght from Germany.

What are you going to shoot and what are you going to do for a valve? You need to move some serious air to get good fps with heavy slugs.

Gee more to ponder?

Where can I source .308 barrels and what is the best hunting projectile for 50 yard medium sized game.

Thanks really appreciate all the info and yes Adam I like your WokGard but my friends Condor I put it on likes it it even more.

Randy 😆

And yes a wokguard. Ask Adam not to cut the safety slot for added stiffness. I made one for my .308 and made it a little thicker around the trigger and included the spring plate to make it even stronger. Gun need to be a stiff as possible. The thing kicks so hard that half the time don’t see where I hit.

I will sell my 9 mm if you still want to go that route.

$125+ what ever shipping is.

Why 9mm? Why not .308?

Tanks are guerilla 62 ci paintball tanks. They have 5/8-18 threads and I put 18×1.5mm threads in them and recut the o ring grove.

The selection of 9mm slugs is limited. Jerry has none and hunters supply has some .357 that could probably be sized down. There bullets are on the harder side though. Don’t recommend anything from Mr. Hollow Point.

.308 has a large selection and Jerry has a few sizes that work good. 118 gr and 157.5 gr real good. Seth also has a selection of .308.

9mm barrel measures .7195″ and doesn’t leave much room. I would machine where the hammer goes down to .600″ just to make more room for it. I machine all my barrels down to .600 for my barrel guided hammers just where the hammer slides. I just did a .25 where I turned it down to .500″ so I have more room for something new I’m trying. Will also turn my .257 down from .577″ to .500″ for hammer.

The other problem that I have had with the .308’s is tring to use aluminum breeches. They would work fine if you were not trying to cock a 13 lb hammer spring with something that is hanging off the end of the barrel. That why I went back to delrin. I made a .060″ shell out of aluminum for mine but haven’t had any problem even with firing 3500 psi shots.

WokGard 15 😀

Great info do you want to sell that 9mm barrel and where do you get those 62ci tanks from?

Thanks

Randy

You defiantly need to buy or make a larger valve.

I only use 62ci tanks. Anything smaller is a waste of time. I can get 10 shots with my .308 with 118 gr at 981 fps(252 fpe) down to 876 fps(201 fpe). With 158 gr it shoot 878 fps(270fpe) and 171 gr at 874(290fpe).

101 gr hammer is what I have my .308 set at.

If you machine the barrel to .430″ you can use delrin for the breech. Barrel will be thin like a .25 barrel. .356″ ID to .430″ OD. If not next size is .500″ and now your hammer and breech are getting thin. You can look into going 12mm(.472″) for o ring sizes but only standard o rings come in ureathane. Not sure what to use for o ring material in metric. I only use standard 90d ureathane o rings.

Done a lot of testing on .308. Have a 28″ 9mm blank sitting here also that I haven’t got around to.

Anymore question just ask.
