Need some help please
I need some advice/help with this gun http://www.pyramydair.com/p/benjamin-hb17-pump-air-pistol.shtml It is almost brand new and seems really stiff and hard to pump even from the first pump. I think it may just need to be broke in but was wondering if maybe there’s something more to it??? Any and all advice, tips and suggestions is appreciated. Thanks.

I have not had one of those , but i bet it just need to be shot ,. it should be pretty hard to pump being new and all .i have just had the seals in my Sheridan silver streak re dun and i cant believe how hard it is to pump compared to the way it was before.
Oil all the external pivot points if it looks like that it needs it.
And try and wear it out .

If it’s not galling, then you are good….
that means that you are getting a good seal.
The HB series are generally high pressure, low volume guns…. so you ‘could’ replace the valve spring… perhaps bore out the valve a bit, cut threads, whatever to increase volume… but that just means you’ll have to pump more…
hard to pump (assuming no mechanical reasons, or galling) just means that you are getting a good seal and that the valve is designed for high pressure, low volume.
It is what it is. The Benjamin pistols are not known for being mod friendly. If you want to mod a pumper pistol, get a 1377 and have at it… otherwise, enjoy your HB for what it is. Not saying they CANT be modded….but they are not known for their ability to be modded as easily as the 13xx series.
