Saw this on Brad’s site and looks to be really nice TX 200. Mark is a good fella as well.

I’m going with the HW 97.

The gas ram SLR has a different feel to the recoil which you either like or don’t.I prefer it to a coil spring driven action,it imparts no torque to the rifle as it works,so it feels more positive, more like a well tuned springer. It also needs no maintenance other than a wipe over with an oily cloth after use.
The gas ram can be pumped up or air let out to suit the pellets you are using,so the SLR can be fine tuned without stripping the action.
We are restricted to under 12 fpe over here so power is not the objective, accuracy and smoothness of action are.

I have owned several TX air rifles, they are not bad out of the box but usally need to be worked on a little to get the best from them. They are easy to strip down and work on,and have a lot of potential. My HC in .177 took quite a bit of work to get it to shoot consistently and with acceptable recoil. It needed a different spring and guides, plus some polishing and a proper lube job. They are quite a lot cheaper than a Theoben and this shows in the finish and fine details.

It’s just my (informed) opinion.I readily accept that TX air rifles will do the job,but if you are ever offered a go with a Theoben don’t turn it down.

The TX is a proven winner, go with the TX, the theoben is few hundred dollars more, so what exacltly are you getting for a few hundred dollars more?

20 ftpds is 20 ftpds .1/2 in group @ 50 yards is still 1/2 in group @ 50 yards

I dont see the justification for the extra dough.

Just my opinion.

I have a TX200 and a SLR 98 that you mentioned.Of the two the SLR is more consistent and accurate. However you may find that the cheaper Air Arms ,once tuned ,can compete on accuracy. The SLR would need the single shot tray instead of the seven shot mag to be competition legal over here in the UK,so I assume it’s the same with you.
For finish, handling, and pleasure in using,I always go for the Theoben.

Edward, sent you a PM about an available TX200 .

Straight Shooters love the HW97

TX200 or HW97 will be the pics of most….with the HW77 coming in third.

I have all three and prefer the balance of the HW97, but accuracy-wise, I can find no difference in the 97 and the TX.

The TX is certainly easier to work on than the HW.

ill let ya know ill have my TX200 MK3 next week
😉
im not going big on the scope though
i am using a Bushnell 3-9 x 32
but it will suffice for now

Not sure about some of these suggestions:

I keep hearing the AA TX-200 mkIII is a smooth shooting springer. I’ve always looked for hunting guns with enough accuracy for informal target shooting; so I don’t have much of an op on this.

Let us know what you pick and why as I’d love to know.
