Need to make it quieter!
Hey guys. I haven’t posted in a while. I tried a few months ago, but the forum wasn’t working. I’ll be here regularly.
I’ve got a question that I could probably find the answer to by searching, but I thought I’d say hi anyways so….
I need this gun to be quieter. I’ve read some options are shrouds and hammers?
I couldn’t find the link to a shroud on Talontunes.
What do you think is the best option? I won’t go for 3 months without my airgun to get a mod, so I need something I can install myself.

Vented bushing, drilled while on the barrel and with a hand drill
The scotch brite works. But skip it. Sooner or later it breaks down and gets in the way.
Use washers and PVC pipe and cut your spacers.
Alright. I’m basically a five year old when it comes to building/materials. Is that brite pad any cleaning rag or what the hell is that?
How long and wide is that spring?
Those pvc parts are 1 inch in diameter and how wide?
What is a cone spacer, and what is that thingy at the end?

Will having that bit of extra spring minus the extra o-rings and washers make that big of a difference?
I’m no good with tools and building since I’m young and really have no experience with them, but would I need a drill press for “venting the front bushing”? Whatever that is. Do you have pictures or a simple diagram for me to see the bushing?
This is what I have had in my gun prier to getting a 24″ barrel.

More space, better results. When you cram a ton of stuff in there you are removing volume and the air is not getting stopped efficiently.
The best set up I had was using PVC pipe. I cut it down its length so it could be compressed when installed. I then cut varying lengths of pipe 1/4″-1″ to space the baffles. The first piece against the bushing I think was 3″ long and can be drilled and opened up for volume as well.
too many baffels spaced by orings….in that video…imho
first chamber needs to be somewhat large, bit smaller if the front bushing is ventet
the less you stuff in there the more volume to silence….
oring spaced baffels are fine in the end 3-5 is about right.
the spring that rests agains the the front bushing can be real skinny this will alow more volume….it wont need to be strong as there is no force on it !….the springs from there on, need to be beefed up, as you dont want them to compress during firing cycle, this can lead to inaccuracies, and tilted baffels….
i have moved away from using springs as spacers except the one resting against the front bushing, when using a spring here you can compess the whole picle a bit, and dont have to be accurate in cutting the lengs of tubing your gonna use for spacers elsewhere.
chambers should not be of same size, this can resonate…seen from the muzzle the chambers should be large then medium, then small, then you can adjust with oring spaced baffels to give the air some resistance
ohh and i drilled my bushing with a hand drill….not pretty but ti doesnt matter…just dont drill so many holes the bushing becomes unstable…
I did my delrin bushings with a hand drill while they were still in the gun…. It was a somewhat hairy experience and I wouldnt recommend it – but its possible. If you have a center punch and remove the alu bushings it should work fine. Just don’t use too big a drill bit.

Whatever you can find is fine, theres no set in stone chamber size. I have 3 spring chambers and a ton of oring chambers at the end. Others just have the 1 big chamber with 2 or 3 smaller. Whatever materials you have on hand. If you can only find 3″ springs, give it a shot, If thats enough for you great. If not then you can cut them in half (or maybe 60/40%).
I have a question about the springs you put in the shroud. Do you use two 3″ springs or just one that you cut in half?
He has a video youtube showing that he did. Can you vent your front bushing Jooleyen? Has anyone done this withut a drillpress/mill/lathe?
