Neil Clague LDC = Great results, quality build…

“…a while back” can mean anything from a few months to several years.

During the past five or six years I have purchased several LDC’s from Neil. None were defective, all were very quiet, each one was a quality build. The latest build was a 1.5″ diameter, 9″ long, triple chamber design, for a project high power TalonP. It too is a stand alone LDC which slips into the factory shroud and grub screw friction attached, the same as you indicated your design was.

My gun, previously as loud as a ,22 powder burner, was reduced to hammer slap quiet. From 20 feet the gun was as close to dead silent as humanly possible. Previous LDC’s made for me by Neil were of similar quality and highly effective.

Interestingly, that particular aluminum part pictured (front AF barrel bushing) is NOT a part inside an LDC, nor does it hold the LDC onto the gun, but rather is used to center/secure the barrel inside the factory frame shroud. (which some individuals may confuse as being an ‘LDC’). This particular vented barrel bushing allows back flow of air pressure from the space between the barrel muzzle, and the shroud’s end cap, to the back area of the frame’s shroud, where the rear barrel bushing stops this air flow and permits extra air expansion inside the shroud, thus lowering the muzzle report…further, this early AF non-baffled venting technology goes back at least seven years.

The grub screw you said broke the carbon fiber tube does not screw into/onto the carbon fiber LDC. It screws through the factory shroud and against the aluminum pipe that extends out from the carbon fiber LDC. The carbon fiber material merely butts up against the end of the AF frame shroud, and has no direct physical contact with the grub screw.

I’m not saying you are not telling the truth, given your limited and dated understanding of the mechanism/technology of what appears to be an early version of an unbaffled shroud extension.

What I am suggesting is…there are technical errors in your identification and description of the parts failure, and how you say the damage took place.

This is understandable if this took place a few years ago, which seems likely to me, given the dated technology of the “LDC” pictured…no baffles, no padded or multiple vented chambers inside the “LDC”, as is Neil’s more current designs.

I’ve never hesitated to pay a premium price for a Neil Clague LDC, because I never once got a bad product, be it a replacement shroud or add-on LDC to the end of the shroud.

Fair is fair…and I’m definitely NOT saying you are lying, but I do believe there are technical misunderstandings in the physical description you have given of the product failures/reasons.

My stance is Neil Clague makes an excellent product and stands behind it. He has bent over backwards to assist me with special orders, and as long as I treated him with dignity and calm…that’s the type of response I got in return, as well as resolution of the problems at hand. He was, and has always been, very busy and produces his products as quickly as possible, given the limitations of a one man shop with many orders.

No offense is intended to anyone…these are merely my thoughts, and my experiences. I believe there are misunderstandings here in the problem description.
