new .22xx hpa bottle build with pictures and questions…
I started this build with a stock disco spring, but it proved too weak for my 2000 psi regulator (at least I am thinking that, please correct me if I am wrong, Gurus). The disco spring only gave me 680 fps with 14.3 gr premiers. I also ran into some of the same problems I have experienced in the past with bolt probes. I thnk I might have to change my name to “Mongo” or “Bolt Buster” as I have destroyed four or five during my 22xx ventures. I’m either too strong for my own good, too dumb for my own good, or a combination of the two 😕
I then upgraded to a heavier spring I had . On max I was able to get 960 fps. On minimum it gets 650. I will double check with disco numbers to see what a stock disco gets, as I should be able to get the same energy from mine of not more. (I am running a disco valve with a tranfer port mod {for the time being} I plan on upgrading to a Boss max flow soon).
The problem I found (with many of my 22xx builds) is when I put heavier springs in to raise power, they become too hard to cock. One other thing I noticed is that not all breeches are machined the same when it comes to the bolt handle slot. On this build it would have been nice to have another 1/4″ of slot opening or a bolt probe with more probe sticking out the rear end to aid in cocking. I checked four diffrent bolt probes for reference and no two were exactly alike when it comes to the length of probe rearward of the bolt handle thread. I was able to resolve my problem (temporarily) by inserting a round steel ball in between the bolt probe and the hammer pin to assist in cocking. Not only did this shorten the distance I had to cock the handle back, but it made the heavier spring pre load more manageable.
she was dead accurate at 10 yards in the initial test. I won’t do any distance testing until I get the speed issue resolved to my liking. Anyway, any feedback is welcomed and appreciated.

The adapter sure looks like the standard ol’ QB79 tank block, available from Archer Airguns…….the bottle is what is interesting…..I called Joe about getting the 18 ci bottle, he said he could no longer get them..I know several other folks that want them as well…I assume you already had that bottle stashed away somewhere?? it’s the perfect size –more capacity than the 13ci and physically smaller than the 22ci.. Joe at one time had a source for them, but at some point source “dried up” …
With that long a barrel, and having the ability to use a power adjuster, you could reduce reg. press. down to 1800 or even 1600 and still have numbers (900+ ), especially after you either build a flowed-valve, or buy one….using less pressure would bump your shot count right on up 😎 😎 just something to think about……nice gun BTW, I think you and Carl and myself are the 3 worst 22XX junkies I know of 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀
I have a Ninja 3000 psi bottle on my AS2250XT conversion and was wondering about using it on my other conversion which right now has the 88g AS CO2 on the front using the same adapter you have. Whew…

Not quite sure of it’s origins…I bought it used from Joe “muzzlmack”. I will ask him when he’s feeling better. He as a cold 😥
Anyway, it is a 3,000psi 2000psi output 18ci. What I liked about it was that it was only 9″ long (tank alone). Some of the tanks on JDS’s sight (I think a 21 or 22 ci??) is 11″. I am not sure who makes it. The Regulator says “made in USA” on it.
I just got back in from the shed and ran a quick test. I only had 2700 psi in my tank and I ran it down to 2050 to 2100 after 24 shots. That means I only used up around 650 psi for 24 shots. When I have a full tank I will fill it to 3200 to see what kind of shot count I can get. Thus far I am quite impressed with the SD and ES. I adjusted the hammer spring preload to a position that made cocking comfortable and moreover, one that helped me not to brake my last cocking handle 🙄

Accuracy at 15 yards was hole touching hole shot with a 1x red dot scope with CP hollow point 14.3 gr I think I am going to end up liking this one 😉
What bottle are you using in this build?
I have a Ninja 3000 psi bottle on my AS2250XT conversion and was wondering about using it on my other conversion which right now has the 88g AS CO2 on the front using the same adapter you have. Whew…

80 I forgot to mention that I also really like that gun. It looks good and has a nice BUSINESS look about it as well.
One last question about the bottle and that is, what is the diameter? The Ninja is 2″ and I was concerned about it touching the barrel. Otherwise I would need to find a RJMachine riser breech.
BTW, if you are interested I have an extra bottle cover I ordered from the UK and you can have it for $11. I got two for packrat and a couple for me plus two spares.
