new AAA 24" .25 condor crony results
Okay, thus far I have fired around 100 rounds through my new Talontunes AAA Condor.
Let me start by saying Tony did a real great job on this rifle. Man that trigger breaks like glass. No first stage travel whatsoever! And he even through in a hard to get tin of EJ’s round nose (thanks Tony)
Included with the rifle was a ten shot string that tony did with EJ 43’s on a 2900 psi fill (power wheel on 10) with a fps high of 931 (see photo below)

I did some preliminary indoor shooting @ 16 yards and I was able to produce some respectable groups (see photo below)

But man, when I went to the range today, I had a really bad time trying to get any of the pellets to group well at 50 yards. The EJ 35 gr and the kodiaks were all over the place. I’m talking 3″ groups. Each time I tried a new pellet I refilled to 2800 psi. The best group I got was with Jerry’s surefire 7 ring 70 gr. (see photo below)

After I got home from the range, I was feeling a little depressed 🙁 Keep in mind the range was kind of windy 10 to 15 mph gusts, but I did manage a 3/4″ 10 shot group @ 50 yards with my BSA Scorpion with JSB exact 16gr.
So I got home and broke out the crony and here are my numbers

Well, there it is. Please advise, however, I will not touch anything until I here from Tony on what he thinks. I will do some more accuracy testing, but my max yardage here at the house is 30 yards and I won’t be able to get to the range (50 and 100 yard) for at least another month. thanks!

The curves for the “light” pellets look pretty good. You could probably even start with a fill about 50 psi lower to avoid the first couple shots that are lower on the curve, or just use those shots as warm up. For the heavy slugs you need to add 200 psi and see if you get a couple more shots in the “heart” of the curve. The big slugs take a bit more time to start moving and then need more time/room to accelerate down the bore which requires more air.
The numbers are good enough as is that I don’t see any need to adjust the settings, just tune with air pressure for the final optimization.
As far as the accuracy issue goes. I thought everyone knew the 7 rings were the most accurate slugs for the Condor? 😆 😆 😆
Seriously, look for something simple that might have changed during shipping or during the first fill and shoot cycle. Shipping often entails big temperature swings and vibration and/or impacts. I’d go through all the fasteners on the gun (especially on barrel attachments) and make sure they are snug.

I agree, Knife, I would not touch that monster unless Tony specifically recommended something. I wasn’t sure if power would change due to spring/hammer break in, etc and would require some type of adjustment, etc. but alas, Tony would have the final say so.

The Jerry slugs did best as they are much heavier and don’t deflect as much when they clip…???

This rifle does not have a shroud on it. I am going to do some more shorter range testing on it this Sunday.
Have you moved the shroud at all grit? Maybe you are clipping which is why it wouldn’t group?

Okay, so the numbers look good. I’m no expert, but that bell curve on the 30 shot string looked really good to me. I will give it another go on Sunday. I will even try a different scope. It’s been a long day, I’m off to bed. Good night all!
I think those numbers are why you need to send me that knife! I have by-nightly dreams about shooting something that heavy that fast 😥
I believe you are right in the best range for accuracy out of the pellets you have.

Long time no hear 😥 Yeah, I never got the screw and I will tell you why. I am afraid to mess with that rifle. That thing is so accurate it isn’t funny. It out shoots my BSA scorpion (and that’s no easy feat). I know nothing will happen, but you know how it sometimes goes.
You don’t need to do that, I will measure it and go to home depot. In fact, I would like to get one for the .25 and install it as it only has one screw holding the forearm and eventually it will strip, (so I was taught by someone who knows their shit when I had my cherry broke on TAG 🙁 🙂 😆
What do you think of those numbers. I know I’m putting out some serious energy, but I got to get good accuracy as well. That .25 caused some serious strife on the homefront. It will be the last air rifle I buy unless I feel like going through a divorce proceeding. 8)

Just got off the Phone with Tony, and he had a few suggestions for me. Ironically, one of the things he mentioned was something that was on my mind as well. Recoil on this .25 is much stronger than the recoil on my .22 condor. So perhaps that could be causing my groups to open up. If that is the case, than it is shooter error. He also suggested to fire only one pellet (kodiak) and to stick with that before introducing other pellets to the bore…along with other suggestions similar to many of the members here. Man Tony is a real nice guy and he sticks by his product. Something you just don’t find in this country much anymore. Thanks again Tony, you are da man!
