Q:

New addition to the garage

UPS freight lost my package for a week but finally my Grizzly G0704 is home at last Mwuahhhhhh. I was surprised there were no damages to the packaging. I hear horror stories of these packages getting messed up during shipping. I still need to order some machine leveling mounts to level it out. The stand is not the sturdiest.

I also purchased a G0751 two months ago.

This is more addicting and more expensive than my Cricket and Edgun.

I agree GsT but most importantly setting the feed rate to the lowest will give you a polished look.

Madmatty, sent you an email.

I’ve always found it easier to get a good finish with the lighter cuts on small machines with HSS cutters. Of course I’m always finding new and better carbide inserts, but I still use a lot of HSS.

Yep, me too! and use mostly carbide tooling. Costlier, but doesn’t need much if any lube for what I do! eer, Did? 😉

can someone please give me a contact e-mail for donnyfl I would love to try one of his ldc’s on my .25 cricket … thanks Matt madmatty74@yahoo.com

I used 4×6’s under the base to provide some more height and spread at the bottom to keep it from moving around.

I also took off the shield and figured out how to keep it running with the safety pin removed.

I use my shop vac when cutting on the mill to catch most of the chips or they end up everywhere.

I try to clean it after every use to prevent chip buildup. Having a shop vac definitely helps and makes the cleanup fast. I have to pile up the big chips first and throw it in the trash can then follow up with the vac. In the tailstock is actually a die holder for threading. It has an MT3 arbor so very solid. Does a great job. I’ve learned to use American made dies. They cut like butter.

I did the break in routine on the Mill last night and man that thing is quiet. I am going to build a plexi glass confinement for the bed as well to make it easier to clean. Don’t want metal all over the floor.

Man donny that Lathe is clean

Is that a socket in the tailstock?…… That G0704 is looking good. i need one of them
