Q:

New adjustable Tophat

Hey guys this is my 1st post…
I purchased a fully tuned .25 Talon SS from Tony. No problems took it out of the box and BANG… perfect…. Now I started following the forums and reading what this gun can do. So I wanted more power…. Called Tony and he sent me a longer barrel, heavier hammer and Hi Flow Tank.
I also got the new Tophat with inserts. Also have a carbon tank from Joe and chrony.

Now for the question:
Im trying to tune this thing.
My gun likes the 25 grain JSB Kings. Im shooting from 50 to 100 yards. So do I use no insert with low number on the power wheel or large insert and a higher power wheel setting.

Also a note for Tony. you need to just figure in a chrony with all first time shooter in the price of a gun. OMG….
that makes everything you read here make sense.

Yes the .25 comes with a high flow tank.

I only make them for high flow tanks for now.

No worries, the inserts are in the quick change top hat from Talon Tunes there are two different inserts that are threaded into a one piece top hat they adjust the air flow through the top hat for more or less power depending on your needs

Do you need a hi flow tank or does this work in a standard tank also ? I believe my Talon SS 22 cal 12″ barrel came with a standard tank.

Im a new-be, don’t even have my gun yet. Was going to get a Condor but got tired of waiting and ordered a Talon 22cal. Its due to arrive next Tuesday. Please don’t laugh me off this forum but what is the insert you are talking about?

Yeah, tuning these guns without a chrony is like a Dr. trying to practice medicine without a stethescope. 😯

People who shot no insert found there guns too powerful, try the large insert 1st.

I’ll second that one I shot without an insert the first time and shot through my tank in no time. best bet would be to experiment using a chronograph and the inserts 😀

So what insert should I use?

Yep, a Chrony maked all the difference!

You are going to find that the JSB’s like 880-900 fps the best at 100 yards. At short range, you can get good accuracy at higher fps. but it will degrade quickly at higher fps. Every once in a while, we find a bbl. that will do 930- to 950 with good accuracy at longer range. But it is rare. Pellets just don’t like flying fast. And exactly why some of us have gone to custom bbl.s and actual cast bullets. 😆
