New barrel. Questions after install.
Just put in my new .25 barrel. Polished it up a bit with 0000 steel wool and lubed with silicone at contact points.
The power wheel just doesn’t move very smooth now. What gives?
Secondly, the aluminum bushings are a bit undersized as is the OD of the barrel relative to the Condor end cap. The barrel grub screws contact the barrel through a larger hole in the bushing, rather than threading into the bushings. Is this meant to combat the frame flex, or shall I see an accuracy issue here.
Gotta get it threaded before I can test. WAYYY too loud.

being cold in most of the country right now, it is worth mentioning again: The silicone is fine for the adjuster wheel, although will be a little stiff to adjust when cold. DO NOT lube the hammer guide bushings, hammer spring, or inside the frame with the thicker/sticky silicones if you will be shooting in cool/cold weather………the cold/thick/sticky lube will cause the hammer to drag resulting in inconsistent and/or low powered shots.
If you lube it up well before reinstalling it’ll turn a bit easier. The sticky silicone trick will do double duty.
I just removed my barrel to clean it up and when I put it back in I realized the white plastic ring came off of the powerwheel. It is a harder white plastic which I am sure reduces friction when you rotate the powerwheel. (there is one on the breech side of wheel also). I had no clue how to get it back on the powerwheel so I left it off and the wheel does bind a bit.
I may try to place in on the barrel bushing with some silicone so it stays there while I push it back in.

Guess I’d be anxious to test that set up to… sounds like all is going good. Tell us how it performs when you can.
The power wheel has smoothed out after sitting. I guess the lubes just had to work themselves in there well.
I can’t wait to get the chance to zero this thing and do some long range testing.

You may have screwed the foregrip screw in too far, I have noticed that the screw comes awfully close to the powerwheel… 😕
If it is any comfort my powerwheel feels different with each barrel… 😉

Yes i was gonna mention tape as well, if you wanna get picky you can get some alumi tape that will never get soft or lose it’s original fit. Worked perfect for my frame extender tube, which is 1″ OD, frame is supposed to be 1″ ID but tube still had some slop. Wrapped .005 thick alumi tape around tube without overlapping, and resulted in a perfect fit.
And for WOK, must be nice being able to have two uses for fingernail polish… 😆
Barrel bushing are not drilled to decrease binding and allows aligning the thread of the frame and bushing unneeded.
As for the undersize bushings there are a couple of things you can do. One is tape the bushing the other I have used in similiar circumstances is to use fingernail polish and coat the bushing and let it dry. Then insert the bushing and the frame will scrape off the excess and you will have a perfect fit.
Airtight, when I changed barrels, my PW wasn’t as smooth either. I can’t quite remember, but I think I lubed up the large white O-ring that is part of the PW assembly that sits against the back of the barrel bushing and it helped, but then again, I don’t have a Condor, which may be different.
My new barrel also has alumi bushings that have un threaded holes, unlike my older 12″ barrel which has threaded holes in delrin bushings. As long as your new barrel bushings are a good fit in the ID of your frame I don’t think there should be any accuracy issues, although i also found it odd that they didn’t thread them as well, I guess the holes are machined so the set screws fit perfect in the bushing holes restricting barrel movement, I don’t know.

The barrel is in. Too loud to shoot for now and just wondering if I’ll experiences issues.
Have a home made sheet metal pellet trap in the house and a chrony set up in front of it. It did 775 with a 42 gr. Sam Yang on low power. Anything more and it’ll go through my trap and wall. That’s that’s the extent of my testing so far.
I wish I had some answers for you. Maybe if you post a picture or two some of the experts here will help you out? I suspect you already halfway done by now though! 😀

Correct. I have lubed the hammer, frame and breech with a drying silicone spray. It does not get sticky at all and is fine to use in those instances. It’s more like using a teflon coating than a grease.
