New Condor
Hi all! I am new member and purchased a Condor. I would like an opinion as to the necessary machinical modifications that I should make to my Condor, I.e. hammer, orings, trigger or valves that would make a difference besides the cosmetic changes I wish to make. Also should I clean my rifle and how often. I was told to never clean the barrel and never put oil in it yet I read on line that a Condor owner said he had to clean his Condor every 100 rounds to squeeze accuracy out of his rifle.
And one more question about a scilencers. My Condor is very loud and made one of my fellow Police officers jump when he fired it. I warned him that it was not your average pellet gun! But he didn’t expect the report that it gave. It also penetrated two pieces of sheet metal at over 25 yds. Man! I laughed so hard when he jumped. He was amazed at the power and accuracy. It’s too loud to shoot where I live. Way too many gun grabbers out here!

They call them lead dust collectors here because it’s politically incorrect to call them silencers. In the silencer section of this forum there is a precedent setting case posted showing that if the silencer isn’t purposefully built for a firearm it’s not a firearm silencer. However, people are still gun shy and don’t want to do 25 years for an unlicensed silencer. Calling it a lead dust collector, however, in my mind is disingenuous. It’s a silencer, and calling it by a phony name only makes it look more suspicious.

First recommendation is to find one kind and weight of pellets that work well, and stick with them. My .22 Condor loves JSB 18.1s, it’s all I feed it.
Sound is a big deal with these things. My first major accessory was a 8″ LDC (lead dust collector) from Tony at Talon Tunes. It made the rifle MUCH quieter and I’d recommend one to every AF rifle owner. No need for hearing protection and neighbors have no idea that I’m shooting.

By new I take that to mean you are the original owner. That’s good, you shouldn’t have to worry about o-rings for quite a while.
The SEARCH feature is really good when used with all Capital ” AND ” between all lower case search words. Otherwise you will get way to many possible threads listed. When that happens just add another ” AND ” plus another defining search word. Don’t worry about asking questions that have already been answered. Often someone will offer the topic and/or exact thread to go to.
As you find time read all the “Quick Reference” section.
Some of my initial mistakes were as follows:
3000 PSI fill pressure is seldom necessary when you don’t have a regulator.
Pellet speed over about 1150 FPS often destroys aaccuracy, makes a louder noise, pisses off the neighbors, tips them off that their ferral cat may be on his last life, and just isn’t necessary.
WARNING The safety is NOT 100% ❗
Especially on high Power Wheel settings.
The higher the PW is set, the heavier the trigger pull. Typically use a low PW setting of “4” and learn what PSI Fill pressure gives the best accuracy. All varies a little with the barrel length and moreso with the caliber.
You might want to polish the bore a bit once a year or so. Otherwise for anything short of a match, it is self cleaning.
Don’t waste money on just shooting the heaviest pellets. Medium weights work fine and can be bought for pennies.

As far as what you SHOULD DO?
First thing I would do and did was shoot it; alot. It took about 1000 pellets for my Condor to break in. Get a feel for the way it shoots.
I have replaced some of the o rings as the wear and cause minor issues. The only other thing I’ve done (i.e doing) is having Dyotat100 (Greg) fab me a regulator. I think everyone here will agree he – is – THE- MAN! when it comes to valves and tanks.

I cleaned the barrel when I first got it to get all of the factory gunk out. After about 5000+ pellets I haven’t cleaned the barrel once. I don’t clean the pellets, I don’t lube the pellets. Only clean if accuracy starts to go away.
To quiet down your rifle, Talon Tunes has a super mouse fart “LDC” to hang on the end. There are some other here on the forum that can help you as well.
If you hang around here long enough, you will learn A LOT.

Welcome!
Since you’re a law enforcement officer you should be able to get a class III stamp easily then buy a .22 firearm silencer. Any capable gunsmith should be able to machine the threads onto the barrel for it after that. If you don’t, then go to Talon Tunes and have Tony make a frame extender for you. As for the other questions I’m ignorant because I don’t have a Condor (yet).

Thanks for the big welcome. I’m a shooter and was a sniper for my swat team. I love anything that goes POP! I get it and I’m pretty impressed with my Condor. I like to learn I probably spent near $100,000 on firearms and almost never leave them stock. I make stuff that doesn’t exist. But you can never stop learning and this is new to me. Very knowledgeable people on in this forum and I can learn a lot. Thanks for all the kind input.
