New Condor with Predator and UltraMag Pellets, 50 yards

I went to the range last Saturday and sighted in my new Condor 24″ .22, I ran a number of pellets through based on recommendations here. The Kodiaks and JSB Jumbo Monster delivered a punishing 50-55 ft/lbs and were okay in the accuracy department… But I’m interested in long range hollow points…. so I tested them to death. Here’s the results.
New out of the box – Condor 24″ .22 PW 1.8 – that’s right 1.8 – anything more and I had 1240fps and no hope of keeping the pellets on target. Start pressure 2400psi end pressure about 1700psi.
* 50 yards/150ft or for the Euros 45m/4572cm
* The target grid is 1″ squares for visual measurement.
* Five shot groups because I want to test consistency.
* 7 mph crosswind for realistic hunting conditions
* 800ft above sea level (whatever that means)
* 60% humidity.
* 85F / 30C – balmy for Texas, can’t wait for 105F

Next was the Predator .22, 16.0gn, 1050fps (PW 0.0) for 40 ft/lbs

** I shot several more targets but couldn’t improve, I refilled the gun, tried some more, switched back to the other pellets with no problem and then returned to the predators – same inconsistent group **

Forgot to mention that the UltraMag is designed to fit in magazines… I don’t own any mag guns though.
Yep, the preds don’t hold at 50 yards at all. I am shooting .22 also. I ran the tank down to 950fps and still no luck. I gave them every chance and they let me down.
On the plus side – try the UltraMag in your gun they seems stable at 1080fps and down. I will do some terminal ballistic tests and post to this thread.
Looking good. Could try slowing them down. Also for me at least group wise the preds always seemed to open up past 30 yards or so. This was the .22’s.

Great information and pretty well what I see with the Predators and the 22 cal barrels. What Temperature, humidity, and elevation were you testing at approximately?
What amazes me is my 12″ 25 cal barrel in Stubby shoots the Predators extremely well at 50 yards. There is something about the 22 Predator characteristics in combo with the LW barrels that creates instability. I also see Marauders that shoot the 22 Predators pretty well.
My Stubby with the 25 cal barrel actually shoots every pellet I have tried pretty well where the 12″ or 24″ 22 barrels are more finicky.
