New Cricket Valve Spring Lock Nut….by John Hagan
Pretty simple and keeps valve stem from changing positions.
1) Threaded valve lock nut
2) Screws on top of valve stem spring adjustment nut.
3) Adjust valve stem spring tension and put lock nut on top of it
4) The threads are perfect, but use an easy hand when starting the lock nut
5) Never forget to replace the valve on your gun least you sustain catastrophic air loss
That valve gets pounded with each shot, and there is nothing to hold that valve spring in place except friction. Cheap insurance to keep results consistent.

I have often wondered the same thing. If i was the manufacturer of these Guns i´d use any and all good mods and “aftermarket” items would those offer an improvement. Why not ? That would save me a lot of R&D money and make my product that much better from the get-go.
Great info and detail guys! Just can’t help but wonder why they don’t take extra preventive measures during the design process of these Cricket’s considering how well they are selling and incorporate these ideas into them.

I’m certainly glad John had the common good sense to develop these inexpensive little lock nuts, because as loose as that valve spring nut is, and with the constant pounding it takes with each shot, it doesn’t take a genius to figure out it WILL rotate towards the direction of least resistance. Pretty soon, you’ve got no power at all.
