Q:

New guy and totally clueless about PCP’s

Hi All

New to the forum and up until now, always shot chinese springers and co2. Getting the bug to get a PCP and my internet search led me to this forum. I kind like the Talon SS as its fairly short (Good for NE woods). I’d be primarily using it for varmint control and some plinking. I was considering a Benjamin Marauder do to price but I have seen some nice Talon packages that included the scope for around $650.00. Of course I’d always be open to buying used also. I know most fill from dive tanks but how practical are the hand pumps if your not shooting a great deal? Do you think I’m heading down the right path with a Talon? It seems like they are highly customizable.

I think this is interesting because I was thinking of doing this too because of cost and I’ll probably be using the air-rifle once a week.

I also have a fully equipped machine shop so I can pretty much make anything.

Thanks again!

Replace the valve with a regulator, add a quick fill and manometer, sell hundreds or maybe thousands of them? Get to work. ๐Ÿ˜€

Very helpful guys. Thanks! Air Force guns seem to have a very loyal following and I look forward to learning more and hopefully contributing something useful here. I also have a fully equipped machine shop so I can pretty much make anything.

Thanks again!

Welcome to the forum and I ๐Ÿ’ก you wont regret a talon….
The learning curve is longer for a PCP than to a springer….
If you have the patience then….its a milestone achievement in the end…..
And once you have a PCP..then you go the gas way….PCP..CO2..Nitro… ๐Ÿ˜‰ …The Best is the zero or minimal recoil
> Ofcourse there are some great people here who would tune it, so youre good to go out of the box and give you the readings to shoot at, and fill at, if you dont have the patience and time….(But then it comes with an extra $$$)

IMHO : Dont go in for the Combo with scope…at the extra cost youre paying you could get a Bushnell Legend 5-15×40 [You’de love it] 185$
[For a lower or higher budgetโ€ฆjust paste in and search in the optics and youโ€™ll get a whole lot of options]
Just get the Talon and if you intend to go in for the hand pump, then the pump and right fill adapters….[From my experiences dont buy the Airforce Pump, I lost my $$$ ๐Ÿ™ ] Go in for Hill or FX.

Hope I could help you in some of your queries…
๐Ÿ™‚

I used to pump by hand.
Now I use a scuba tank and smoke a fag instead…. ๐Ÿ˜† ๐Ÿ˜†

VERY mod-able, as much power as you want….plus decent accuracy if you do your part…

I would suggest a tank, but if you are unable to fill it nearby, start working out, you will need it when you use the pump

I fill quite regularly from empty with a stirrup-pump (hand-pump), and it’s more tedious (boring) than physically hard. But I’m 6’5″ and 15 stone, so maybe I’m not representitive. Topping up is a piece of piss (that’s limey slang for ‘easy’).

As for the rifles themselves, it’s hard to fault them.
