Hi all:
my first post. My name is Gary. Im retired and loving it. I have been into guns all my life. everything from shotguns to Anschutz target rifles and everything in between. I’ve had a few springers, RWS 45 in .177 and a couple less powerfull RWS guns.
I was thinking of getting one of the Anschutz target rifles but although they are very accurate they are only good for target shooting. Also very heavy and very expensive.
I have been surfing the web looking at all makes and models of pcp airguns. The air force line of guns is very interesting to me. I have been crunching the numbers: fps–pellet wt. ect. I’ve also been looking at as many posts on this forum as I can.
I must admit I’m a little confused when it comes to which air force gun I would like to get. I’m a accuracy nut. (comes from shooting bench rest 22rf competition.) but i want something with more fps than the Edge.
The Condor caught my eye. will the Condor shoot consistant half in groups at 50yds on a calm day with heavy pellets? I want something with good power and still retain accuracy.
also, what is the overall quality of the air force guns. From reading many posts here I find they are not without problems. The price of these guns seem a little high but if they are well built and can live up to their acccuracy claims then maybe they are worth the money.
any information you can give me in regards to the above or any other information you might have would be very welcome.

I’m a bit unclear as to your true purpose on the purchase.
True…the AF guns can be very accurate out of the box, but to realize their full potential, they may need a bit of tweaking.
On the other hand, if you are simply interested in killing dots… depending on your range, there are several other guns that may fit the bill just as well.
The FWB 300 is a timeless classic that can be extremely accurate….and yes, out to 50 yards.
You are asking about a gun that will give you 1/4 inch groups at 50 yards, but the bottom line is that MOST quality airguns will do that. The question is…. can you? I’ve shot amazing groups at that range with several PCP’s and even springers…. but not consistently. I simply do not have the ability to consistently shoot 1/4 inch groups at 50 yards… but I can put 5 shots inside a quarter at 50 yards with a couple dozen of my guns ….consistently.
If you are looking at eliminating all but your own fault with target shooting, I’d suggest something regulated and benched. Marmot Militia has the E-TaC which will connect to a regulated HPA bottle that will yield good shots out of an Air Force gun…
or you simply find your guns sweet spot and fill to there and shoot the appropriate number of shots to keep your velocity variance tight.

I have had my condor for about 5 months now, and have shot it from 400fps to 1400 fps, between 2000 to 3000 pellets thru it and i love it , i shot it for a month and the only thing that i touched on it was to add a shroud, and really i didn’t think that anything needed to be changed but after the new was over i did tune on it some,
I have since pulled the barrel out of the action and gave it a good cleaning and did all the polishing tricks that you will learn from this forum.vented front bushing and frame.
With gun velocity tuned to the pellet , you can expect 1/4” groups at 50 yards, two or three pellets in one hole but it will be with flyer’s that will open up the group. but if you have the velocity right for the pellet your groups should be within 1/2” pretty easy.
The consistency is hard to keep with the condor, for match accuracy.
most charge to higher pressure “2700 to 2800″to get the shot count with bell curve.I have done this with good results, but i am playing with a lower fill at this time for greater consistency.
I’m running stock condor hammer spring ect. oring behind top hat , with gap at .080 to keep velocity down in the 900fps range with light 14 to 16 grain pellets.
I fill to 1900 right now witch is just about 5 shots above peak velocity for 15 grain crosman pellets. i only shoot about 15 or 20 times and them refill to 1900, i get 3 or 4 , 5 shot groups this way,
The thing that you will either hate or love about the condor is the adjust-ability, you can turn it up and shoot 32 grain or heavier pellets at 1000 to 1100 fps, and shoot thru a 2 x4, or turn it down and shoot light 14 grain pellets to 400 fps.

Welcome, Gary. I have a 2025 and love it. I use the 2025 to kill pests around the home including large birds. Also have a few condors. But people do not buy condors for build quality or accuracy. They buy it for its modularity, cheapness, and ease of modification into whatever configuration you like. I buy it because it is one of those that legally possess a very quiet report so very backyard friendly, and easy to get enough power out of it for hunting medium game. They can be made to be very accurate, but will never equal the 2025 or even get close to it in the short to medium ranges. Out farther the condor has the advantage simply because the 2025 is only offered in .177 and in any crosswind at all, it will be no contest against a heavy .25 or .22 pellet.

Welcome to you Gary…listen-my TalonSS with 12″ barrel will shot 1/2 inch groups at 50 yards..and with at teast 3 different type pellets…seriously..I’m a little guy, 5’8″, 130 lbs, turned 62 four days ago 😀 Point being-I like the light weight, and the short length of the TSS….with PW (power wheel) at 4.8 I can shoot 50 rounds at 800 fps. At PW 7.8 I can shoot at 850-870-fps. If you go with either the 18 , you can get around 950,,and with the 24 Condor well, let’s just say you’ll LOVE the performance…..LOTS of accessories (if ya go for that sort of stuff) and PLENTY of places to put ’em. I’ve got 5 airguns…four of them I would sell (if I really had to) but the TSS stays with me…I am that dedicated/happy with it. AND….to me it IS a big deal, it’s made in the United States of America, in my home town-Fort Worth, Texas. 😀 😀
