Q:

New guy, old talon.

Ed from Seattle here, just wanted to say HEY!

Bought my Talon in 2000 before they had an SS. It still shoots great. Don’t know why but I hadn’t found this site until recently. What a great discovery! I ordered a tank adapter from Tony, nice guy by the way, and am looking forward to the extra inch of tank drop for my new Leupold 3×9. Did have a Beeman SS2L 4×21 mounted, it’s really good up close but I wasn’t that happy with it out to 50 yards or more.

I’m amazed with the amount of members and the wealth of knowledge assembled here.

Welcome and enjoy!

Welcome to TAG! I’m new here too. Changing the barrel is all of a 5 minute operation. Requires an extremely complicated tool called an Allen wrench. 🙂

Thanks…have fun!.

You too, Gino

Cool avatar!

Welcome to TAG!!!
😀 😀 😀

Yea, I know about the hf hearing loss, working in wood shops. Hard to hear my wife sometimes. 6Khz range I think, depending on her mood.

You must be stoked about your new TT .25!

Thanks Roachcreek, wouldn’t want to be anywhere else, except for the property taxes it’s a great place to live, rain and all.

Welcome Ed,

Good to see someone else here who has to deal with the rain in the PNW.

Regards,

Roachcreek

yes, the lower tank PSI along with my longer frame with short barrel all combined to reduce the mussel blast to where I could here the ping. I do have poor high frequency hearing with better than average low frequency hearing. Lower frequency overwhelms the highs and although I hear, noise, I can’t distinguish between some common sounds until separated. yeh, I often give too much info 😆

PB has best explained the many benefits of the oring and they don’t seem to wear out???

Hi Lurker,

Mine’s a stock 18″ .22cal. I mainly shoot Beeman FTS and Kodiaks. All seem to shoot well. My friend has a Logan .22, NICE. He swears by the Accupells. I’ll give them a try after I install the tank adapter.

I’ve thought about a spare barrel in .25cal but have’t convinced myself yet. My brother just got a .25cal Talon from his wife for his birthday.

Does the ping come from lowering the tank air pressure trying to keep the sound down? Interesting solution with the o-ring.
Is it relatively easy to swap barrels?

PB, I can’t count how many tins of pellets have been fired through this Talon. All Iv’e ever done is replace the breach O-rings and slightly lube with divers scilicone for maintenance. Maybe I should be doing more.

Before I got my Talon, I wore out an R10. Mainly target shooting, it’s really relaxing and therapeutic. You guys probably understand.

Welcome !

how much have you shot over those years , you must of bought when they first came out.

Better late than never. :thumb:

Welcome to the circus where the clowns are in charge. 😆

what barrel do you have ❓

what pellet do you like ❓

I converted my 24″ .22 Condor to a 12″ .177 and enjoy killing paper targets when not shooting down my back hallway. I tuned it down until the tank/valve ping became annoying. A oring behind the top hat helped take care of that and increased.good shot count.

Haven’t had my new Talon Tunes .25 AAA Condor out yet but it busts up 2x4s easily.

There’s no end to the fun you can have customising an AF air rifle.
