New here. Questions.
I know this has been discussed a little, i’ve searched and read as much as I could find and still wondering about the Talon 18″ on C02. I’ve seen Paul’s video on the Condor on C02 (i was very impressed with the accuracy) but his gun was about 40 fps lower than what’s advertised for the Condor. I know that advertised figures are usually high, but for C02, I thought they were more accurate. I was hoping that a Talon 18″ .22 could get around 650 fps w/ 14.3 at 75 degrees, but that’s what Paul’s Condor with a 24″ barrel was doing.
I’m looking for a C02 because of the shot count, plus I have a 20lb siphon tank filled for refilling. I’d go the HPA route, but the expense of fill equipment and a place to get it filled presents a problem. I do however, have a Crosman pump (and a Disco in .22).
So for those that have any experience with this setup, either a Talon 18″ or similar setup, what are your thoughts with C02? Accuracy is way more important to me than velocity. I’ll be doing some vermin control, and target shooting. My Disco is setup for 18 ft.lbs (tuned for 40 shots) and it’s plenty powerful enough for 50 – 60 yds. I had it shooting at 860, but I’d tamed it down for better consistency and more shots. But if I could have a Talon setup for 14-15 ft.lbs for a few hundred shots, that would be the ticket. I live in So. Maryland and the temps range from 80-95 from June – late September, so shooting this time of year doesn’t yield a problem as far as low temp goes.
This is a great board, hope to hear from some of the gurus out there.

I recently got an 18″ .177 barrel for one of my TSS’s. Stock rifle and tank, TH @ .034″, PW @ 1. I’m getting an easy 60 shots with JSB Exacts, high of 959 fps, low of 876 fps. With a 3K psi fill, it’s down to 2500 after 60 shots. No perceptible change in POI at 30 yards. That’s an average of right around 16 fpe, which I believe is what you were looking for. This setup is good for 1/4-3/8″ groups at 30 yards consistently, and even managed a sub-1/2″ group at 45 yards. BTW, I got the 18″ barrel in trade for a CO2 setup, and I’m thinking I got the better end of that deal :-)! If you’d like to see my spreadsheet and graphs, email me direct and I’ll shoot them off. Later.
