Q:

New level, finally.

I put 20 minutes into making this thing, LOL.

Lathed it to just over 1/2″ diameter, bored a .193 hole thru it, then bored a .380 hole most of the way thru.

Put it in the mill and cut the slot.

Drilled the scope rail, and tapped it 10/32.

Dropped a 10/32 flathead capscrew into the tube and screwed it to the scope rail.

A .375 bubble level was aquired and each end was wrapped with a single layer of clear tape. Then it was inserted into the level tube, nice and snug. Using tape as a shim keeps the surface from getting scratched up when pressing it into the tube. (Learned the hard way).

Removal is easy, just twist it off as the screw is captured. Use allen wrench to push the screw thru the tube, which removes the level for replacement if necessary.

I did this because the little black one in the picture is the 3rd one to fail. Each and every one the bubble keeps getting bigger. (Leak?)

Shooting tests make me very happy. I can see the bubble with the left eye while aiming with the right.

I only need to paint it, but I was out of paint.

Looks more solid than the ones you buy, very nice! you thinking of making a few to sell?

I have to do this after the machine shop is locked up at work, I really cant make this a business venture.

But I dont mind sharing the how-to part.

Too bad RR…I sense you would sell a ton of these for sure. Nice work!
