Q:

New Mutant Standard from Tony……IMPRESSIVE!

Can’t add much to whatever has already been said about these outstanding bullpups, so I’ll just say for the money these are the best choice available. I’ve had Crickets (still have a Carbine) and still have my .177 Vulcan, but my nod goes to the Taipan Mutant. The trigger mechanism is the best designed one out there and very adjustable. I really like being able to see visually what each adjustment does and how the system functions. The magazine indexing and cocking mechanism is superior to the Cricket, and easier to load than the Vulcan. The only thing I miss is the ability to decock the gun with the mag still in it.
Yes, the stock is plain jane but ergonomically near perfect for me. The Mutant is also the quietest from the factory with a very good baffle system (of course I just had to make a “HushMod” to make it even quieter).
Got to give a BIG THANX to Tony for delivering this impressive shooter! 😀

I am shooting the 33gr JSB’s .22’s at 730. Fit in mag no problem. Not sure if a .25 is needed with this performance! :suprisedn:

Sectional density makes this a “killa” but not sure how this would shoot at longer ranges with the factory barrel twist??

It really does look like the Mutant is becoming the choice of quality at a good price. That trigger assembly looks absolutely to die for. At least from what I can see.
My only concern will be if the .25 can push the heavy weights as hard as I want them and how long a pellet cycles in the magazine.
The rest of this rifle looks and sounds pretty impressive.

i’m sure the new 0.25 mutant will be the shortest and quietist …….but although the cocking is butter smooth, it would be better ….

Cmon, that “butter smooth cocking….” is in an engineering class of its own, enjoy that swiss watch!

i’m sure the new 0.25 mutant will be the shortest and quietist (is that even a word?) out there like the 0.22 is, but although the cocking is butter smooth, it would be better on the side like the fx/vulcan/new edguns … would like to see what the new lelya 0.25 will be like – may be keyser could let us know when production will start? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_b9bXQf6PY

I hope Finland imports the .25 version. So far I have gotten ALL my bullpups imported from Finland.

If they make a killer 25 and keep the price down they should clean the market out,
I call it the Mutant trap, I have had a 22 mutant for a couple of months and it still has me in aaw with the way it shoots

Considering all the reviews and postitive feedbacks of experienced owners I believe the Taipan Mutant is the best bullpub on the market today.

The shorty is in a class of it’s own and apparently a real gem!

Well I don’t own a Mutant personally but apparently mechanics is very close to a swiss top watch.

I really do hope Taipan (being located in Ukraine) will be able to continue and improve its business because there is so much need of QUALITY products.

with standard you have to get more shots. shorty is getting 48 shots per fill

Your not doing it at 900 fps…

My standard was getting 61 shots from a 220 bar fill ..

881 to 890 fps… and that is very efficient

So depending on his top off pressure and how he has it tuned….

Assuming he’s topping off around 220 bar……

Id say 48 shots around 900 fps with 18.1s sounds pretty good….

They’re maybe a little more left on the table but that’s dam good.

Show me another gun fun with a 17″ barrel and a 200cc airtube even come close…..

Why wouldn’t you top of at 250 bar to get maximum shots per fill? I am i missing something. ?

Can’t take credit for the idea – that goes to Motorhead on the GTA, but 10 minutes of taping, 5 minutes of spraying, and about 12 hr dry time went from “Plain Jane”

Your Not Missing Anything at all….

You see at the time i ran the string My 4500 psi filling tank only had 220 bar in it so i could only get a 220 bar fill.

Besides…. 220 bar is all i normally fill anyhow…

Actually, with a little more tweaking I’m now getting 5 full mags (60 shots) plus a few extra per fill at 900fps. A shorty is…..well, just that. :winkn:

So your the one who bought the last standard and now there are none to go with my shorty. :biggrinn:
Nice looking gun.

THANX! And it’s a very accurate shooter as well. If you can’t hit a dime every time at 45 yards with this….well, you just aren’t doing your job. Still fiddling with the HSA trying to find it’s sweetest spot with JSB 18.1s. So far I’m getting 4 mags (48 shots) at 901 fps avg with an E.S. of 10.

very nice.

did you do any other prep work, stripping, sanding, etc?

I got a blackie, but was considering spraying some of the ruberized paint to add grip, texture to same are you painted.

Actually yes I did forget to write the 15minutes I took to sand it with 100 grit and then 220 grit paper.

That’s all the prep work.
