I don’t know about you, but I am interested in knowing the shot count. They are probably too busy shipping all those Mutants.
I’m shocked at all the negativity here. Have fun with your other guns I’ll be enjoying my .25!
I’m curious if the shroud diameter and system is the same as the Mutant, and will the same end adapter work? If the .25 Veteran really does shoot at those levels it’s going to need some additional volume control (for me) if it uses the same shroud as a .22 Mutant.
Yeah, it shows 33gr at 856 in the chart for the standard = close to 55ft/lbs. Out of the box that is not f@3King bad if you ask me. Like that Reg design too. Add in the great Taipan mag indexing, new double feed prevent and the fantabulous trigger and its a .25 winner. Function first my bitches. I have no problem with the stock. If its accurate and I am sure it will be what’s the problem?? Anybody want a .25 Edgun?

Hoot my friend, you made a huge mistake selling me your previous .25 Vulcan. A gun that shoots better and more accurate than it should be registered with the ATF which would only blow your witness protection cover.

My Vulcan shoots 880 fps, and obtains about 45 fpe, with a decent three magazine shot count. That’s all the power I need. The Vulcan has exceeded my expectations for the shooting I do.
However, IF I wanted a lot of power…here’s what I would buy in 9mm, 5.5 lbs, single shot, under-lever cocking, skinny as as broom stick:

Did I mention the fact it costs half as much as the name brands? AND…it comes as a pistol model as well.
The point to be considered is Dimentry beefing up the internals of the Mutant, but failing to note the features the “Market” has been stating here over and over and over….The “Veteran” is still a Taipan Mutant by another name! I’ve owned one and sold it. Bought my second Vulcan in .25 caliber and if the Mutant/Veteran ever catches up with the innovations being adapted by Evgeny and his Vulcan…then perhaps I’ll reconsider.
For now…my Vulcan is Ernest tuned, modded out for best performance, and I see no reason to leave that brand.
I’d love to own both…but at my age, and fixed income retired status, I must choose wisely. I can’t afford to own a full stable of today’s desirable pcp’s.

I sold my RAW .30 and ordered a .25 Veteran Standard :8:
The guns are probably setup at 45 FPE out of the box that is more than likely why they listed them at 45 FPE… the chart below came right from the manufacture. showing the capability of the different versions.
It does say 45 fpe on the R&L site when you select .25. I’m guessing that’s where that number is from. If it isn’t accurate, hopefully they correct it.

The manufacture Stated 75 joules with 25.4 pellets…
That’s around 55 fpe… 948 fps…. do u need more power than that?
I’m sure there is some wiggle room in there and these veterans can make in excess of 60 fpe if needed…
Very simple solution…. buy one shoot it and if you not happy sell it and buy an FX….
Or just don’t buy one…..

Looks like Ed is coming out with a new design and features for 2017. The Lelya may be the new “hot” pcp on the market.
I don’t understand why Dimetry renamed the Mutant, but failed to make any meaningful upgrades, other than some hardware items and a new .25 caliber? I don’t deny his internal changes are improvements in durability, but that could take years to show itself in practice. On the outside, it’s still a Mutant.
Increased power in the .25 would be nice…45 fpe is accessible in .22 caliber pcps.
Suggestions:
1) An improved, more ergonomic stock
2) A larger diameter air cylinder
3) External adjustments for HST and FPS
4) Cocking bolt up front

Hmmm. I am really quite content with my gen1/v1 Mutant Shorty. The new one is cool, of course, with better features. However, my current Shorty does everything that I need, and most of the new features of the Veteran are optional to me.
If gen1 is any indication of the quality of the Veteran, I can see how the Mutant will continue to succeed. I guess the only gripe that some people may have is the lack of a .25 Shorty. Given that Taipan is a fairly small manufacturer, I am guessing it is prioritizing on what it thinks is the best seller (standard .25). Mechanically, I cannot imagine there are much difference between a standard and a shorty that makes caliber change difficult.
Of course, I am only speculating…
