Q:

New Owner

I finally took the plunge and purchased a Talon SS. It should arrive in a few days. I can’t wait. I own 2 RWS guns and a Gammo, but have never shot a PCP gun.
I purchased the CO2 adapter as well to plink around the yard. I have a few questions.
What are the best pellets to shoot with CO2?
How many shots an I expect with CO2 before I need to refill the tank.
Same questions with the air tank. I have access to an air compressor capable of producing 5000 PSI. It has foster 1/8 quick connections. What type of adapter do I need to fill the air tank?

Thanks

Talon/Talon SS

The 21gr Kodiak is also popular. It really carries a punch and is very accurate in many guns. You really need to try a bunch of different pellets to see which ones you gun likes. You are going to really enjoy your TSS.

Have you clicked on the TalonTunes banner at the top of the page? Tony has lots of great upgrades that will really bring out the best of your TSS. 😉

I like the JSB’s 15.9’s.

Too many upgrades, and accessories to list. I have had good results with CPHP’s, and great results with JSB 15.9, and 18.1’s

Be sure your compressor puts out DRY air so put a good moisture trap on it if you don’t already. That’s awesome that you have a high pressure compressor! You will need an adapter to fill with a Foster Quick connect. They sell them on Pyramyd for around 20 bucks. It screws on the end of the tank and provides the Foster nipple.

You’re gonna love that SS. I got mine not that long ago and it’s quickly become my fav air rifle to shoot. I’ve had good results with a variety of pellets, it’s not nearly as picky as, say, my Marauder.

Just be prepared to keep spending, because you will want to hop it up constantly. It’s the most and easiest to customize rifle available..as you can see by reading here.

.22 caliber
I guess that was an important detail. I have had good luck with crossmans in my springers as well.

Congrats…you will love it!

what caliber did you buy? crosman premiers always did well by me.

my advice for using co2:

use 12 oz. tanks, the overall length and tank diameter are about the same as the hpa tank.

at dunhams, or online, buy a butt plate that slips over the back of the tank, theyre only a couple of bux and shouldering is easier.

depending on the climate, foam can insulators make a nice sleeve that you can slip a chemical hand warmer under to raise temp a few degrees, as co2 under 55-60 degrees f is next to useless.

buy a stick on aquarium thermometer and stick it to the tank, and put a layer or 2 of self-stick laminate over it to keep track of tank temp. and subsequent pressure.

you can expect at least a few hundred shots from a 12 oz tank, you dont need any bigger.

oh, yeah….. :tag:
