Q:

New rig, strings, targets, and first impressions.

Hey all, I have had my new .22 condor that I purchased at AirHog for seven days now, so I figured it was time to add my bits to the forum. So without further adieu, here we go.

The Gun. (I’ll explain the red rubber band later.)

Improvements coming:
A Morgan Premium Adjustable Recoil Pad (Sorry WOK, but I want a little more heft behind the trigger, or I would be hitting you up).
Flashlight/Laser
Ar15 Grip with palm shelf, and possibly a WOK adapter/trigger guard to go with that.

Even though everyone here said that the gun would shoot best around 2700psi, I figured that I should test mine out appropriately to make sure I would be getting the best performance. So, string 1 is off of a full 3000spi fill, string 2 is the same fill and the shots to take it to the plateau so I could measure the pressure left in the tank. String 3 is the optimized fill, and the corresponding shot string with an ending velocity one or two shots over the first. All missing points in the graph are chrony errors (still getting used to shooting through a chrony).

Overall, I am beyond excited about the strings I am getting with Kodiaks on PW 6. I haven’t done a string with my 32gr Eun Jin’s but I will do that soon, but I think my average will be around 950-975fps considering the few shots that I have made with them. However I since at PW 6 the JSB Diabolo’s shoot supersonic, I think my pellet choice is going to be Kodiaks and the 28gr domed Eun Jin’s.

Speaking of pellets, here are the targets that my room mate shot while we were recording the strings. Ya, I know 11 yards is nothing to write home about, but porn is porn.

This one is one of my better groups while I was sighting in the gun at 30 yards.

Up to this point I was shooting the gun on a bench only. Yesterday I decided to shoot it prone, since I was too lazy to set up a surface to shoot from. As a result, I got a nasty lesson in parallax. For some reason I have never had a problem with parallax shooting any gun before, but yesterday, I got to learn about it first hand. I mainly attribute the problem to the stock butt plate, as everyone here probably agrees, it makes it hard to get a consistent cheek weld to the gun/tank. I shot the first few shots and they all grouped to the upper right of the bullseye, so I figured that I had jarred my scope in it’s rings. So I made the adjustment, and hit the bullseye right on. Then from there they just went all over the place.

Then after a few more targets, my brain started working, and I realized that this was the almighty parallax issue that everyone was always talking about. So I put the red rubber band on the tank to give myself a point of reference for my cheek. Ultimately I was happy to find out that it was user error, even if it was a super stupid error. This was the next group I shot, even though I need to re-zero the scope, at least it groups. Groups very well…

Anyway, there’s the first bit from my new toy. Look forward to chattin’ it up with you dudes for a good long while.

Looks good man very good post. im lookin forward to fabricating some bitchin parts for that beast.

If you are going to get a Morgan Adjustable pad make sure you get the aluminum one and not the plastic one. That plastic one will crack on you.

You have learned how important the correct cheek weld is, many have learned how important consistent head position and shoulder placement have improved their accuracy as well.

Very Sweet weapon M8.

I had my moment of wondering what the hell is wrong with me on the parallax issue. I finally got my skull practice in by reading as much on scope setup as I could find. I had no idea that it affected the POI as much as it did. I am just glad I didn’t “work” my scope to death before I learned what was causing the problem.

Kewl Post M8.

Look forward to some carnage from your baby 😈

Peace,

Julian aka skips; Thanks for your posting. It’s nice to see such analysis with a gun out of the box. We all look forward to you adding to the forum.
