New rod arrives

2 weeks ago I posted that my 2nd Vulcans rod broke. Today the mailman delivered. In the package was 2 new rods, 2 new magazines, and an assortmant of extra parts. All I was expecting was the newer rod. Fantastic service from Airgun Technology.

It fired because the lever broke AFTER it had compressed the hammer spring, but before it moved back far enough to engage the sear.
The snapping of the lever suddenly removed resistance to the hammer flying forward —-> fired.

It’s an unlikely event, but a reminder to keep the gun pointed in a safe direction especially when the hammer spring is (being or already is) compressed.

There is only one way to install the rod. There are some fine tuning adjustments to be made though. If you dont have it just right you cant lock the bolt down forward position. I may have done something wrong in the process, but managed 4 full magazines and while cocking it let go and fired, fortunately the gun was on my bench pointing down range. If you look at the metal in the picture, it looks very grainey, Three weeks ago Evengy said he was sending a new lever, still waiting. Im sure he will, just ancious to get these problems solved. I dont thing anything else can fail, the rod and the lever appear to be the pieces that get the most stress.

wondering if it has something to do with the length of the rod, the way you have installed it. is the hammer bouncing against that bit with the black paint mark?

Weird stuff. Weird …

Here is his broken lever.

In comparison, this is how the lever looks in mine..

I am wanting to love my Vulcan, but its broken most of the time. If it wasnt for my dependable Cricket, I would be pissed. I try to post pictures of the broken cocking lever but cant get it to work. I sent Guykuo a pic, maybe if he still has, he will post for me. I have 39,000 shots thru my cricket and have only changed a leaking O-ring on the regulator. I still think the Vulcan and service is fantastic, I just wish I would have waited and bought the newer upgraded model.

It’s more like Poltergeists or bad Voodoo he’s encountered. I’d be properly pissed by now was i in his shoes.

His Vulcan is early production. His cocking lever’s metal doesn’t look at all like the lever in mine.
His lever fractured right where it engages the hammer. The degree and area of wear on his lever was notably
worse that the minimal wear I see happening on mine. Even the surface finish of his lever is different.
I suspect AGN upgraded their spec for that piece much like the cocking rod was changed.
Probably won’t be an issue for most of us if the part was upgraded as it appears.

Definitely, Bckyrdsnpr has suffered more than his share of metal fatigue failures.

Guy

Maybe it’s a .22 like mine…..

Never heard of a broken cocking lever. Mr. Backyardsniper has to be the unluckiest fucker around or something else is fishy here.
The guy has had nothing but problems since day one. He got a new gun as a warranty item to replace the first faulty one but the problems just keep piling up. Weird …

bckyrdsnpr,
Could you post a picture of the broken lever โ“
Could the breakage have had anything to do with either the broken cocking rod or the adjustment of the replacement.
I’d like to see if there is anyway the next guy might avoid having both those problems.

My rod snapped last night, I sent Everngy a email at 12 pm last night (Sunday) and he emailed me back in 5 mins and is sending a new rod out , can’t wait for the new one

After replcing my rod, the cocking lever snapped in half, new one is on the way. I got thru 4 mags and the gun fired while i was cocking. I am rebuilding my Vulcan a piece at a time.

I’d be pissed too.. ๐Ÿ™

So far so good as in Evgeny getting back with people…….NOT so far so good as in my Vulcan…..

quote Zonk:

Yep Ville we all know that I just hope he knows what we want…….So far so good!!

How can you be satisfied with sending your 22 Vulcan across the country a few times in the last month’s and say so far so good. I’d be really unhappy.
