New section coming – input needed
Hey everyone. I want to add another section to the TAG and wanted to hear everyone’s opinions as to what it should be. The two choices that I am leaning towards are either “Big Bores” which would be a completely new section or “Edgun” which could either be a completely new section or a sub-section of the “Other” guns area. I say that it could be under either, and the reason for that is that I see the TAG as a site about innovation (the AirForce guns are EXTREMELY innovative in their mod-ability) and the Edgun is just that as well.
So, I want to hear everyone’s thoughts and comments. If there is enough interest in the Edgun side of things I will speak with Matador’s owner and his US importer to see whether we could become an official hub/forum for them as I think that in the next few years the Edgun will see a lot of aftermarket modifications.
Please, do not limit your ideas to the two sections mentioned – I am up for any well thought ideas. Lastly, whatever the section may end up being please be aware that some help may be needed from you guys in hunting down relevant threads so that they can be moved to the new areas, and also in starting new topics and giving them a push.

Ultimately, whatever makes the MODS jobs easier…but I would like to be able to go to a specific section when looking for specific information….
this site is dedicated to the airforce guns they need there own sections i think other guns covers it i would lean more to bigbores than the edgunonly because there is somany more types than there is over the edgun im not showing disrespect to the edgun owners i cant wait to get off workers comp and get to buy me one
In that case we could probably just merge Condor / Talon / SS / Edge all into the General Forum…
The fake ross that is. I think a big bores or edgun section would get less attention than the edge section. It just clutters the forum and makes you have to look through more and more subsections to find anything. I say leave it as is. If there is such a huge boom of bigbores or edguns in “other guns” that everything else gets pushed back because of them, then sure. But as of right now there is just an occasional post about them.
So, leave it as is for now.
HOWEVER. If edgun people want to give the forum money for being a main hub, then sure, make a new section. 😀 😀 😀
That is the point though. Some of the current sections would be changed around so that there is a better flow to things and so that there is less real estate clutter to the forum. Nothing like an overhaul, but certainly a reworking. As far as the Big Bore/Edgun side of things they would receive the traffic that they need based on the TAG moving to grab a wider audience than just AirForce-centric people. We are by FAR the biggest AirForce forum out there – there is no reason why we can’t be the biggest Edgun and Big Bore forum as well (and keep the AirForce stuff at the same time).
Here is the problem…..
What happens when the Edgun is no longer the flavor of the month? …and I dont say that as a dig on the Edgun at all. I’m just saying that it’s ‘another’ black rifle that people are ape shit over.
Remember the earlier days of the TOG? Back then, the ‘other’ black gun was the Logun S16 and the Gladi8r. I even remember the description on the ‘Other guns’ ….. post on guns other Airforce guns ‘especially you Glad8or owners’… and in those days, I’d say a good 45% of the posts were about the G8R or the S16… with another 10% being folks jealous about not owning one.
Now those have fallen out of favor, not that they arent great guns…. but the same thing will happen to the Edgun…. it will still be a great gun, but something else will come along that will garner the attention of the masses. So then shall we create a separate section for that gun?
Dont get me wrong…. I love other guns… and I see what you are trying to do, I just think that the direction of this forum is best guided toward the Airforce series of guns… and let all other guns be thrown in the ‘other guns’ section. I think the search on this site is intuitive enough so as not to make finding information on a specific gun too difficult.

If I had the money to burn on a Russian product I’d try an Edgun. Having lost the dollar auction to the ingenuous opponent that changed the rules and got us to bail their arces out, I’ll hold out on promoting their products until I get 40% off. Get us a big discount and we can jumpstart their sales in our market.

There are already several sub forums that any particular post could go in. For instance right now I could put my .25 Talon in General, Talon, Condor or Mod’s section and not be posting in the wrong forum….., further expansion is just going to relegate some post’s to fewer reader’s I think and make it harder to find stuff.

Ross, I see what you mean, but my plan is to rejiggle the forum somewhat so that things have a better flow to them. That will involve moving, renaming and maybe deleting some subsections, creating new ones and definitely removing some of the Stickies as there are probably too many. The Edgun section, if added as a separate area, would be done with a mind to working quite closely with Matador directly.
I’m pretty much in agreement with Shoot, Shovel and Shutup. As for non AirForce guns the one that interests me the most is the Edgun. There is just something about its raw power and rugged look that draws my attention. Much like the AirForce Talon SS did several years ago.
But then Big Bores is also all encompassing.
Still, I’m gonna vote for Edgun!

I’m still fairly new to the forum and airgunning in general but other than the air force line of rifles ( which I am totally captivated with ),the Edgun is the only other air rifle that has really caught my attention . More information about something your interested in is never a bad thing .

About the edge gun. OK, it’s short.
Still feels like your face is stuck in the action instead of on the stock where it is supposed to be. That is what a proper stock is for! Looks like a giant step backwards to me.
