Q:

new talon p

i have a talon p
new to the sport.some advice i have been given gave me the opportunity to know first hand what not to do.

put a mad dog stock on it.it makes it a kinda carbine.still fits in a back pack.
i dont know what to do about the bark.
i put a shroud on my texan and now it quiet but is a buffalo gun now.
if i do the same to the p it will be just a talon.
is there anything i can do to calm her down without making her 6′ longer?

i am going to talk to tony about a carbon bottle .the stock has the room for it and it would bring the shot s per pump up.
what else has been your favorite ad on?

First and foremost, consider a 16″ barrel on it so you can get better air efficiency and a substantial increase in fps/fpe. Several places to get the small diameter barrel you’ll want. I believe it’s 15mm in width. This length still fits inside the TalonP factory shroud.

The only thing you can do to lower the muzzle blast is to vent the shroud just above the foregrip. You can put four to six holes in there and the exhaust noise will be muffled by the foregrip. In the Maddog stock, I put a narrow channel from where the shroud holes vented, and ran them back to the existing hole in the Maddog stock. Easily done with a Dremel and wood cutting attachment. To further lower the noise, lower the fps with the power wheel.

If you want/need REALLY QUIET then you can pick up an over-sized ldc from Tony or Neil and simply use it when needed. Keep it off if out in the wild where noise is not such a problem. All you need is a hex wrench.

I have the Tagdagger option should be seriously considered. It balances the gun to perfection.

This little gun is a sleeping beast! More power than you need short of going to .30 caliber.

It will do what you want, but you have to be flexible in when/how you achieve those results.

I understand where you are coming from, the “P” is a nice gun, but with the items I wanted for a “Field Hunter” I decided I needed to make concessions. I needed a bigger tank for shot count, and a longer barrel for efficiency and velocity …. There is a ying and yang to everything.

So in effect I will have a standard Talon with a R&L shroud. It will be like a smaller version of my Condor with a shrouded 24 ” barrel. It will be about 38 inches long and I can live with that. I already know it will have a 4x AO UTG mil dot scope, mounted as low as It will go, it will have a sling but no bipod like my Condor.

Sight in zero will be determined by the pellet I use determined by the velocity I get.

From my experience with my buddies SS Talon in 22, I think I will be at the PW zone of 6/1 – 7/1 to get the velocity I need with JSB jumbo or Jumbo Heavies. I want a velocity in the 900+ zone. I don’t plan on heavy pellets (21gr+), but if she shoots them in the 900+fps range I may rethink my plans….. but the gun will determine what she will do.
