Q:

New Talon SS

Just got it. I couldn’t be happier for the most part. I’m not to thrilled about the hand grip and plastic trigger though.

I going to solve that problem with an AR type grip and metal trigger.

Anyone know if you can de-cock the gun without damaging anything. Called AF and I was told there is no way to do this. They said once it is cocked, you can only shoot it.

Thats funny, because I can de-cock the gun. I am wondering though why they say no? Maybe its hard on the safety mech? IDK.

One more thing……Is it ok to dry fire this rifle?

Thanks, Chris

Chris, preparedness? Not the zombie thing again….didn’t we go over that with Llama? Or is it the 2012 thing? Actually, there in Florida with the hurricanes and all, you really could use some firepower. I personally like the AK.

(In case you don’t know, I’m just kidding about the zombies and 2012.) 😉

Steve, I don’t usually hunt. But in a survival situation, I know I can kill a small animal and eat it.

A few years ago, my wife and I were camping for a week in the forest, and we literally ran out of food. I shot a squirrel with my Gamo Hunter break barrel and we ate it that morning. And it was quite delicious even with limited seasonings.

Preparedness is my goal. 22 rimfire is good, but airgun is better imo.

You can also reset the safety once you have clicked it off, but then decide not to take the shot. Simplt push the breech knob all the way forward and that will reset the safety. Pretty slick in my opinion. There are so many airguns that the safety cannot be reset after being released that it makes the AF design really shine. Enjoy your new airgun. Do you hunt? If so, what do you hunt?

Thats how to do it!

And not to leave out BASIC FIREARM SAFETY PROCEEDURES:

Keep The Weapon Pointed In A Safe Direction While Doing This Proceedure.

Lol, it was a female. Don’t know if that means anything, but it probably is just a legal thing.

Dry-fire can do.

Ok….good to know, thank you.

AF is a little cagey about lawyers… When I asked for a written answer on something they say “call in”. If you ask about de-cocking the rifle I bet they have to say “fire it” to prevent an accidental discharge.

I sort of understand – they are a small Texas company who wants to remain in business – in a country where we warn about lead poisoning and birth defects on power cords… for goodness sake. I buy a 25 ft power cord and it has more warning “flags” attached to it than the UN building.

Mostt of the folks at AF are pretty knowledgeable…evidently, you talked with one that is NOT the sharpest crayon in the box 😆 😆 😆

Dry-fire can do.

Don’t know if approved by AF but I release safety hold breach forward pull trigger and slowly move breach rearward good to go (remember that you have a round in the muzzle
