New to TAG forum, hello to all….Question?
I have been debating on whether to buy an Edgun R3 .22 standard, which according to Tony is in stock and ready to ship. Or, putting up deposit for the R3M .25 long which as many of you know is currently scheduled for October shipment from factory. Other than the multi-shot capability of the R3M, are there any other differences between the R3 and R3M ? My other hang up is wanting the grey stock instead of walnut, which as I understand it is not in the pipeline as of yet. Has anyone heard anything about if/when this stock may be available for the R3M .25 long? If FX would do some reconstructive surgery on the Bobcat stock, I would consider “pulling the trigger” (pun intended) on this one. I’m curious how it performs out to 100 yds, since it appears by Ted’s review of the .22 that 50 yds is no challenge for this gun. Wondering about performance/volume of the .25 Bobcat.

If a grey stock is what you want…get some grey truck bed liner and paint it! It’s not difficult.
The Bobcat is not a real bullpup…besides, it’s uglier than Sir Ville’s first ex-wife! (the “Dike” with one leg)
I’ve read from credible accounts that once fired, the pellet from a Bobcat begins to drop within two to three seconds, and eventually hits the ground. Is that the performance you really want in a premium pellet rifle?
October is just a few weeks away. Most of us waited up to a year, and more, to receive our Edguns. If you are serious, you’ll wait for the R3M, as the resale value will be better.

If you feel the need for a multishot then you can always order the kit afterwards. Like just said that´s the only difference between them.
I myself couldn´t care less for a MS but that´s just me. And 50 yards is no challenge for any quality rifle in .22 cal. – which all these Bullpups are – but the Bobcat is sooooo Fugly it could scare the quarry away before you get to the shooting distance, or worse – those Squirrels will choke in their laughter and die before you are ready to make the shot. That could be a deciding factor if you´re on a tight budget since you save pellet money but where´s all the fun in that – besides the fun that just killed them Squirrels ???
The only difference is that the r3m is a multishot…it’s the same as the r3 in all other aspects…
As for the stocks…what you see is what you get…walnut it is.

I have been digging a little deeper for more information regarding the Bobcat and its performance past 50 yards as demonstrated in Ted’s review. I went on Ted’s Holdover website and read some threads between Ted and a poster and he (Ted) is in the process of finalizing some editing of hunting footage with the BC .22 out to 100 yards and beyond. Apparently, the performance is noteworthy and will be revealed once editing is complete. Furthermore, according to Ted there may be some talk that FX has begun (or soon will be) dealing with the BC issues, including but not limited to the noise levels and hopefully that ugly stock. As tempted as I am to put the money down on a R3 or R3M, I am leaning toward waiting to see what version 2 of the BC will look like and what changes they come up with to improve overall performance, notably the need for such a long shroud to tame the beast. Since I would prefer a .25 since I already have a .22 Air Ranger, they would need to make the Bobcat a true bullpup and keep the noise to a respectable level, not knowing exactly how loud it is now, but Ted made the point in his review that even the .22 had a significant “crack” without the shroud extension he had installed on the test gun. I appreciate all the feedback on this forum and the knowledgeable members that contribute to the sometimes difficult decision making in which gun may be the best fit, all things considered.
