Q:

Newbie Needs Tuning Help

I just received my new Condor SS in .22 today after sending one back to the factory because of terrible accuracy issues. I have a great place to shoot at my home and a chronograph and want to start tuning my condor. I have done several searches but so far I have only found bits of information here and there. I had a marauder and used my chronograph and the adjustments to get down to about a 20fps ES. Can someone explain the most effective way to go about getting the lowest ES possible out of these rifles without a regulator. I have read to put a washer under the tophat but everyone has their own opinion about the thickness, the material, whether or not the top hat should be adjusted when the o-ring/washer is placed under the tophat. and the actual effectiveness of the mod itself. Again in tuning I’m most concerned about the ES as I am only interested in accuracy. Any help or pity advice would be appreciated. I have exhausted you tube and various forums and have been unable to find the info I need.

Thanks,
Kip

I also have a Condor .22 and really wanted to to be as accurate as possible. Personally, I found I had to crank the hammer spring tension way up on a new fill, and keep decreasing the hammer spring a bit every few shots as the pressure in the tank went down. I know most just fill to a lower psi, but I don’t see the point of having a 3,000 psi tank if you are not gonna use it.

Was a headache and had way to many variables. So i put a altaros regulator on mine. It does very well now with jsb 18’s as far as being consistent shots. Set the reg on 2,000 psi, hammer spring on 2 and didn’t touch it anymore.

Anthonys top hat also helps a ton for adjustability.

All in all, its very consistent now. Still not as accurate as I like, Some of the problem is me though, I have a helluva time getting a consistent
cheek weld with the round tank.

The plastic washer goes under the top hat. Shoot then sand it down some and keep track of your spread and the thickness of the washer. Keep doing this till you start to make your extreme spread go up. Then take another washer and sand it down to the thickness with the best results. If you get a TT quick change top hat it will give you even more adjustments. Do not forget the power wheel even more adjustment there. Hope that clears up a little.

Thanks. You know I belong to rimfire central and post threads on the CZ forum all of the time. It could be the dumbest question in the world or the most complicated and everyone responds with their own “brand” of how to and it’s really nice. In turn, now that I’m a relative vet when it comes to shooting bench rest and CZ’s I try to add my two cents any time I think I can help. I figure if I can save someone a day of trial and error then great. But on here I have a feeling that there may be a few things going on. One, maybe they don’t like newbies, two, maybe they aren’t the kind of guys we want to be involved with i.e. don’t want to share their trials and tribulations to help someone in need, or three, they really don’t know the answers to simple questions. Either way I’m very frustrated that I can post something simple and have almost 60 people look at it and one guy responds with vague advice and you see my pain and let me know I’m not alone.

I guess from your post your building for pure accuracy. If you get any good info please pass it my way and I’ll do the same. Now if you want to build a .38super 1911 or any 1911 I’ve got all kinds of info and probally enough spare parts to put one together lol. For me it’s like building v8 drag cars all your life and now I’ve got to do it with a electric motor, I have no clue.

Wow you got a ton of help, wish I could help you but I’m in the same boat you are. Im more of a hunter than a target shooter when it come to rifles, pistol are another story. That being said of course as a hunter you want as much accuracy as possible even more than target because the paper isn’t going to run off and suffer. Like you ive found little bits of info hear and there but is hard to piece together. Even more so on building a .257 or high powered bullet shooting .25. Everyone tells you how much power they have and how accurate there’s are, but its like they got the best cake you ever tasted and all they tell you it’s got some sugar and flour in it lol. Ok how much and what kind please, I get they have a lot of time, money, and experimenting in it but it would be nice just to have someone post if your building a .257 the best combo we found is this valve, this barrel, this bottle etc, etc, etc . I guess part of the problem is guys have got to the same results with different combos but it’s is frustrating. Good luck, Jeff

:tag: Get a few plastic washers and some sand paper. Adjust as needed :biggrinn:
