Q:

newbie’s project stealth.

hi people, a bit new to all this forum thing but i’ll give it a go,

im from across the pond in sunny england, ive had a stealth now for a year or so and think its time to do a bit of tweaking.

so far ive had a play around with the positioning of the top hat, put spacers in to compress the spring a bit more when its cocked and also machined myself a brass hammer which is a fair bit heavier than the standard one.

ive had a good read throu some of the topics on here, and it seems like the place to be for some serious tech advice, you guys really know ya stuff,

i was thinking that maybe the next step would be to uprate the main spring,as the one in it is a bit lame, would this be a good option? i also keep reading about blodnob valve’s and high flow valve’s. are these compatable with my gun and air tank and what exactly do they do?

i am also thinking of changing my standard barrel for something a bit longer, i currently have the standard 12inch .22. would changing to a smaller calibre increase the speed of pellet or would the other mods be enough to push the .22 out to fairly long range shots with a longer barrel.

basically im looking to be able to have enough poke and accuaracy to take out vermin at anything up to 100yds, is this achievable or am i asking to much of the gun?

cheers guys and i hope you can help me out.

I hate to be the wuss that says this but as you are here in the UK I presume you have a Firearms Certificate and that your Stealth is on it?

Otherwise the mods you are talking about can put you in serious trouble with the law.

The unique looks of the Stealth already attract the attention of Mr Plod and if you are found with an unlicensed section one firearm (which is what an air rifle putting out more than 12 foot pounds energy is) then the brown sticky stuff can really hit the fan.

Not only that but there are a lot of “antis” about and every time there is a headline about irresponsible airgunners then it is another nail in the coffin of our sport.

yes ive got a firearms certificate, have done for many years, i know it would be a lot easier to just take out my .22 rimfire for shootin them pesky bunnies at range but id rather have a go at tuning the stealth to do the job.

Anti motorcycles? Me?

Nope, used to ride one myself when I was a bit younger. Living in Wales where it seems to rain more days than not I just prefer to keep dry in a car these days 😆

its easier to shoot out the window of a car too 😀

i love the motorcyclaes but i have to admit, i am not keen on them when its raining. it get too damn slippy.

What you have written is true so no harm done. I am sure many people run around with FAC jobs without a license and it is not only the stealth that can be adjusted so easily.

If someone is shooting above the limit it is in their best interest to get it licensed as it is not hard to do.

PS thats a damn big welsh image for your avarta 😯 your not anti motorcycles are you 😉

what power are you getting right now?

Blodnob doesn’t make them anymore. You could PM Langnasen as he makes a good high powered valve here in the UK.

thanks for the reply people, sounds like i can squeeze a fair bit more power out of it then.

firstly im going to change the barrel for a 24 inch one, i found a link to somewhere i can order a new barrel from on here the other day but now i cant find it again, any idea’s where i can get a new one in the uk?

what exactly would i need to do to modify the valve then? ive read throu this topic, http://talonairgun.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1272 and have the tools available to carry out the work, would this be a good route to go down, or should i just invest in a new valve?

anyone know of anywhere in the uk i could buy a high flow valve from or would i have to ship one across from the US.

further to your PM check out this link

welcome to the forum fella.

it is up to you what direction you go but with the valve you have you will be able to mod it slightly to push a 21.4gr pellet (B magnum) out at 40FPE easy which is plenty for 100 yard shots at about 925FPS.

the high flow, Blod nob and other third party valves will all allow more adjustment but also have the perk of letting more air through the valve, unlike the Ligal limit UK version.

i would go for a longer barrel too as the pellet will be leaving the 12inch barrel too quickly and not making the most of the air coming through the valve. the extra say 12 inches allow more air to keep pushing the pellet.

i hope you have lots of funds because when you start modifying a stealth it gets addictive.

😈 You came to the right place. Depending on the modifications done, you can have up to 115fpe in .25 cal shooting a 70 gr. slug. That has plenty of energy for a 100yd kill for sure. If you have the standard “talon” valve, you can get around 45fpe with the addition of a 24in .22 caliber barrel. With some valve mods on top of that, you can get 55-70 fpe in .22, but that restricts you to ultra heavy pellets. Basically, the power available is unlimited, it just depends on what you want to do.
