Newbie – Scuba and Hill Pump
Hello friends,
I recently got the Talon SS and have been using a Scuba tank to fill but I wanted to top off to the ideal psi once the scuba started to be low. So I got the Hill pump.
My problem is I don’t seem to be able to get it past 1800psi with the Hill Pump. How many pumps do you need to reach 2800psi? It took me over 60 pumps to get from 1500 to 1800 psi. Is the pump a lemon?

I guess I will keep pumping. Everything looks and sounds like it is sealed. Do you guys hear a “Fluttering” sound coming out of the pump outlet when you push down? Sounds like a “Duck” call.
I didn’t count last time I filled it, but I know it felt like 30-40 thousand pumps.
But check this, mine was having a problem. I couldn’t get it to fill at all, wouldn’t get above zero. In the adaptor you screw your airforce tank into, make sure there is a big o-ring on the end. That seals between the tank and adaptor, if it’s not there, it won’t pump at all.
If it is there, keep on keeping on!
Sounds O.K. another 150 pumps and you should be close.

Takes a lot more than you think.
My scuba is putting out 2000psi, go to the hand pump and there is still work to do.
Let her cool, take a break, every 200psi or so, it’ll get there

The “sick goose” sound is normal on Hill pumps.
When you start to sound like that, it’s time to take a break…
