Q:

newbie would like help

Hi everyone I have just joined the site and would like to know if anyone can help me with some information on how to remove the valve on the bottle so I can replace it with a high flow type.
I have heard they are difficult but some guys on here have the tools and know how.
If you could help me It would be great.

Rabbit,

You need a bench vice, and something to pad your bottle to keep from damaging it cosmetically, such as a piece of leather large enough to wrap it, a Magaine can be used but sometimes they are not enough.

Then you need some sort of tool to use to turn the valve. Some use a pipe wrench, but this will really damage the outside of the valve, again cosmetically, it will look ugly.

One of the fourm members sells a tool see picture, and I highly recommend it. Ohers use a threading die wrench to hold the valve.

The forum member who sells the tool is Marmotmiltia, I think he charges around 10 bucks for it, it is worth much more than that.

Even with the tool, you will need to really secure the bottle firmly in the vice, and then put a “swede” on Marmotmiltia’s wrench, a “swede” being something like the box end of a one inch end wrench.

When you replace the valve, be sure to include the “o” ring and perhaps put some divers silicone on it.

Airforce really puts these valves on tight, but there is no need to put it on as tight as they do IMO.

Good luck, and welcome to the forum.
