Night Hunt
I love to night hunt. I started last year with a Streamlight 600 lumen LED light…man, talk about lighting up the world!
I sold it and went with a 200 lumen LED…ahhhh, just about perfect for 25 to 30 yard shooting at night. Actually, anything in a power range of 200 to 300 lumen is perfect.
I originally had the light secured to the stock of my p-rod with a short picatianny rail and a quick release 1″ ring.
After I bought the Cricket I was looking for a light attachment. While looking through the sporting section of Walmart I came across this long barrel light attachment. It has a 1″ to 1″ clam shell attachment for hooking to my scope…works perfect and attaches quickly and easily. The price was $15 and the quality is very good. I also like that it is padden inside and will not scratch the scope.
I know a lot of guys use a green or red filter but I’ve never had any problem spooking game with the clear lights…but any sharp noise or movement spooks the game.
Anyway, heres a couple pics. of the setup and good hunting.

Octavius, were you using a green filter in the top photo of the 27 coons? Hope my count is right…LOL

Came to the office one morning and a coon had entered through an airduct…you would not believe the carnage and distruction to the kitchen/break area. when I arrived he was still there and standing his ground. No weapon available, so I just called animal control and they came and hauled it away. What a mess!
I caught 5 coons up a persimmon tree one night…comical sight, wish I’d had a camera…LOL
I have killed hundreds of raccoons in my yard over the last 20 years and 98% of them at night so I don’t consider much overkill. 🙂 The raccoons are real sensitive to most lights including red ones so I can kind of fell back to a green or red laser with the white tactical 500 lumen but the red and green LED are better than the white for not scaring them off so fast. You have to be fast or they take off. A good night scope is the best but too many things have been given priority so far.
This is what I have been studying. The Pulsar N770s but they need the extra battery pack IMO. I know someone shooting fox out to 250 yards with one. They could double up for coyote as well as airgun stuff under 100 yards. It replaced the N750s. I would just plop it on my R3 30 cal.

I was thinking bought getting the xlr250 kill light to do some night time pesting…. U think its overkill for an airgun?

It really pops the raccoons and opossums hard. It explodes the sparrows like pdogs with a .223. 😯
I wish they would get the 30 cal Predators out. I was told they are working on them but release things one at a time.

I don’t own a 30 cal. but it sound like the only way to describe it is ‘deadly’…
I switched to the R3 30 cal now but basically same setup. Just deadlier.

Larry 😆 maybe. I never met any Coon here in Slovakia. We have not this kind of animal here. I have seen it only in ZOO.
