Nikko 8-32X60 AG IR Nighteater arrived…
Some of you here may have read about my problems with my Leapers 6-24X56 SWAT scope, which has a wandering POI, mushy no click windage turret, ect. I originally wanted the Millet TRS-1 4-15X50 scope, but has been backordered for many weeks now, and I’m just tired of waiting.
I finally have a scope that not only holds zero perfectly, (so far anyway) but every click is precise. The pull up to turn, push down to lock turrets are nice, although a bit stiff, will probably loosen as I go. The mil dot reticle has thinner lines, which I like better than the Leapers, which I always thought were a tad thick. The optics are quite crisp, and very clear. The eye relief on this scope is longer than the Leapers, so I had to move the scope foward a bit to compensate for it.
Zeroing this scope in was a cinch. I knew I’d start off way low because of the tri rail and high rings, and it was very low, but had it almost spot on in about 6 shots.
The range markings on the side focus seem to be quite accurate as well, (at least to my target box, I know that distance) and the sidewheel is very nice, so much easier to turn, and has markings that match up to the turret. I don’t think I could ever go back to the focus on the objective bell anymore, especially with scopes this size, would barely be able to reach it from a sitting position lol.
When putting the scope on higher mags, eye positioning becomes quite critical, I think too much so, which is the only real downside I can come up with at the moment, but all in all, this appears to be a well made nice looking piece that is a definite upgrade to the Leapers I have. I would have no problems recomending this scope in this price range.

Scope comes with sidewheel, sunshade. No lens caps unfortunatley. I’ll be getting those next.
By the way, I’ve had this scope for sometime now, and all is working out great, no regrets. If I would change anything, it would be maybe adding some ‘hash marks’ between the mildots, for closer increments with holdovers, the mildots are a little far apart for me, but that’s really the only thing that comes to mind… but it’s a fine scope that does the job well.
Do the sidewheel come together with this scope,or it is extra buy?

Thats 1 sweet looking scope! Quick question whats the warranty like on em?
Mine have three grub-screws around the cap. Take those right out and the cap lifts off. There’s nothing underneath on mine to worry about.
Some turret caps can be set back to zero. That is what Im talking about here. He says that his scope has that ability. I have the same scope but in 6X24 so I would think mine should do the same. Im just asking how he does it on his.
Be careful with attempting to take the turrets off. A spring may fly out or something and then you ‘re screwed if you can’t find it or know how it goes back in. Turrets are not meant to be taken off the scope. I ‘m pretty sure that voids the warrenty too.
Can I get a close up of those turrets? Or tell me what you did to get them off. I tried just pulling them off but it was tight so I left it alone.
The caps come off on my 6-24×56 and can be put back centered to zero. 😕
How do the optics on the Nikko compare to say the Bushy Legend 5-15×40 that has 91% light transmission? What is the light transmission in this Nikko IR Nighteater series? Anyone know?
In low light I can see better through the scope than with the un-aided eye.
So how is the Nikko Nighteater scope different than other scopes (besides the side-wheel)? Are you supposed to see better in low light conditions or can you see through it at night at all?

The turrets lock but you cant reset them to zero after you got it dialed in. I wish they had that feature. I should take a turret off to see if it could be modded.
That isn’t too bad a price. I just might have to save up and get one of those. 🙂
Can you put some pics of the turrets up? I love the way leapers did theirs, with the zero locking and how you can set the numbers back to zero without adjusting the scope. What are they like on that one?
I got my 6-24x50AG from Airguns of Arizona for $219. Got it sighted in, and I AM LOVING IT. I was skeptical of the wheel at first (I was going to leave it off, its fairly heavy), but now I’m a believer.

i had the 6-24×56 nighteater, and it was certainly better than leapers in all regards, the only thing i can put my finger on is that the tube is made from very soft aluminium, so this is a scope where you want to take much care when mounting it as to not overtighten the mounts….if you do the sidewheel becomes crunchy, and the zoom gets hard to operate……dont ask me how i know
i would put the 6-24×56 along side the legend in light transmission…but the legend does this in a much smaller package. nighteater i had got slightly milky at high mag, the legend does not, but it also misses 9x zoom compared
legend vs nighteater….depens what you want to do…poke holes grab the nighteater….hunt i would take the legend.
