Q:

Nikon Scopes

Has anybody had any experience with Nikon scopes?….went to Gander Mountain, the build quality and the clarity was top notch. Thinking about getting a Buckmaster 3-9X50 for my condor. Any thoughts?

This is a brand new scope we just debuted 3 weeks ago at Shot in Vegas.
I think it will be mid March before it is in the public’s hand.
Lots of interest already so I think they will fly off the shelves.

Hopefully we’ll have a pellet rifle application on our Spot On Ballistic Program one day soon…..not sure what soon is but hopefully one day.

I laugh at your first focal plane suggestion, not the first time I have heard it…go figure…
Thanks,

Thanks Bart : Gonna Look for one Local, or @ the Gun show, like the BDC reticle! One suggestion, make a First Focal Plane/FFP model. Just kidding!

Keep up the Good Work.

Sam 😆

Already a member at rimfire central. They are a good group of guys who gave us some excellent ideas on what a rimfire shooter/hunter wants in a rifle scope.

here’s the reticle for the Nikon Prostaff Rimfire with BDC 150 reticle

Welcome aboard, Glad you’re here. Keep us all informed with the good info. I learn something new everyday.

Can you find a picture of the ProStaff .22lr BDC Reticle? Found it! _/\_]

http://swfa.com/Nikon-3-9×40-ProStaff-Rimfire-Scope-P48766.aspx @ $149.95

Thanks. BTW you may want to join this Web site also : http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/index.php

Sam 😎

I imagine you can reach out there with those kinds of adjustments.

I have never done anyting but shoot reactive targets and turtles with my .177 air rifles.
I honestly didn’t realize what a huge number of shooters particiapte in this sport.
I am glad to be a part of tis forum.
I imagine I will glean a lot of information and also hopefully pass on some as well.
Thanks for the warm welcome.
Bart

That would work. 150 MOA, Outstanding! Ok, That’s confusing says “50-yard parallax setting, then further down the page says “Parallax-Free @ 20 yards” Duh! Also on the same page : Copied from Nikon’s web page:

Many are predicting 2011 to be “the year of the rimfire” and the new ProStaff Rimfire 3-9×40 is likely to be one of the reasons why. With all the performance features of the new ProStaff big game riflescopes, the new 3-9×40 also integrates the .22 LR-specific BDC 150 reticle and a ‘”50-yard parallax setting'” for confidence and precision out to 150 yards and beyond—with the rimfire 22 long rifle. Part #6725 (Matte, BDC 150)

Looks like and outstanding Rifle scope from Nikon, but I consider it to be a FIXED Parallax @ 50yds scope and that’s not a bad thing 😛

Sam 😆

My mistake, I did mis-type. Here are the spec’s for our ProStaff in a Rimfire BDC configuration.

BDC 150 Reticle
Provides a .22 LR-specific BDC reticle and a 50-yard parallax setting for confidence and precision out to 150 yards and beyond—with the rimfire 22 long rifle.

Fully multicoated lenses
For maximum brightness and contrast and light transmission up to 92%. Nikon coats all lenses with multiple layers of anti-reflective compounds.

Zero-Reset Turrets
Zero-Reset turrets allow you to sight-in at 20 yards, then lift the spring-loaded adjustment knob, rotate to your “zero”, and re-engage. Field adjustments are now as simple as dialing-in your subsequent ranges.

Precise 1/4 inch @ 20 yds Adjustments
With an incredible 150 MOA adjustment range (@ 100 yds).

Lightweight Compact Design
Fits virtually every crossbow design.

Quick Focus Eyepiece
±4 Diopter.

Parallax-Free @ 20 yards
For optimum accuracy.

Bart : Never seen any scope parallax fixed at 20 yards. The Nikon web says ‘Buckmasters 3-9×50 Matte Nikoplex’ Parallax Setting – Other 100yd. Which means Parallax is FIXED at 100 yards.

So at 3x maybe some focus at 20yd, but at 9x no focus.

http://www.nikonsportoptics.com/Products/Riflescopes/6430/Buckmasters-3-9×50-Matte-Nikoplex.html#tab-ProductDetail.ProductTabs.TechSpecs : scroll down to Parallax Setting – Other

http://www.nikonusa.com/Nikon-Products/Product/Riflescopes/6320/ProStaff-3-9×40-Matte-BDC.html#tab-ProductDetail.ProductTabs.TechSpecs : scroll down to Parallax Setting – Other

I would only buy with the option of Exchange or Money Back Refund!

Before you buy, While in the Store, look through the ProStaff 3-9×40 or Buckmasters 3-9×50 scope at something close to 20yds using 9x, If you plan to use 9x..?

Sam 🙄

It is Paralax adjusted to 20 yards.
A couple of friends that shoot CO2 rifles tell me this will be a huge benefit for them.
Kimber., I also don’t think you can go wrong choosing a Buckmaster 3-9 for your Condor.
Check out Nikonhunting.com to look at our new ProStaff Kimber.
I think you will be pleased with it for the application you are considering.

If there scopes are anything like there cameras they should be up there with the beast of them.

I use a Burris Timberline 4.5x-14x-32mm scope on my gun. It has adjustable objective from 7 yards. http://www.burrisoptics.com/timberline1.html available at my local Academy.

Hasn’t lost zero in over a year and has graduated dots for close and long shots.

The Buckmaster 3-9×50 has Fixed parallax set @ 100yds. I would recommend a scope with adjustable parallax down to say 30yds.

Consider the NIKON Buckmasters 4-12×50 SF Riflescope Nikoplex (6445) Parallax down to 50yds

http://www.opticsbestbuy.com/NIKON-Rifle-Scope-Buckmasters-4-12×50-SF-6445.html

Also the NIKON Buckmasters 4.5-14×40 SF MilDot Riflescope (6469) Parallax down to 50yds

http://swfa.com/Nikon-45-14×40-Buckmaster-Riflescope-P42210.aspx

I also recommend a scope with mildots for holdover/under aim points and range finding. Look through more than one scope, even of the same model, if you can and pick the best one.

Sam 🙂
