Nitrogen, Air, & other gasses….
I DO NOT own a PCP YET! But am on the list for an EdGun Matador R3 .22 standard length.
In the past I would fill all my high end PaintBall Gun tanks with Nitrogen.
Does anyone here use Nitrogen to fill their tanks for their EdGuns? Are there any performance/ maintenance benefits or cons to be aware of?
I’m sure the consensus uses AIR, but for the uber user here, have you ventured into this relm?

Don’t forget 3500psi scuba and $5 fills at your dive shop. Also a cascaded fill strategy.
So if given the nitro for free, you would use it? I don’t pay for gases. A friend owns a gas company, wether its air, nitro, argon, helium, nitrous, etc…
Did you see any improvements in the timeframe you were using the nitro?

Before I got my first PCP, I went to the Fire Department and talked to the Chief. I told him what I was thinking about buying and could I get air there? He told me that, as long as my SCBA tanks had a current hydro, they would be glad to fill them. He said “that it would be good public relations”. I did that for about a year. I felt like a mooch so; I leased a 6500PSI Nitrogen tank. That worked great but, the damned thing weighed around 450 pounds and was a chore to get it out of my truck and into my garage.
Every time that I took it back for a refill, they wanted more money and after the 2nd year, they wanted to double the yearly lease. They wanted me to pay $173 for a year’s lease and the refills were costing me $90. The $90 refill would have been OK but, I was only getting about 5700-5800 psi on a refill. I didn’t want to pay $173 plus $90 for a partial fill.
I ended up taking it back and buying a Shoebox compressor. I got it about 6 months ago and still haven’t hooked it up. It is just too damned easy to go the 8-10 blocks to the fire Dept to get a fill!
The only downside to going there is that they want to talk ½ hour before filling the tanks!
Check out your local fire houses and ask if they will fill your tank. If so, buy a used SCBA tank and, if it doesn’t have a current hydro, send it in for one.
Buy the guys a box of doughnuts once in a while and, you will be golden!
