Nitrogen Tank Refill price?
I’m thinking of going to a nitrogen tank refill station and the cheapest I found in my area is 250.00 for a 5 year lease and 215.00 per fill. Is that too high? What are you guys paying and how many times should I be able to fill a Great White Tank? I also heard you can buy some type of booster so that you can get the most out of the 300 cubic foot tank. Where can I get the booster and for how much? I’m weighing my options and seeing if it would be better to just go with a Shoebox compressor.

I don’t know what the hell this has to do with Nitrogen fills, (Talk about thread Hi-Jacking), but I’ll play along. Seems that neither one of you, especially Syn, knows just how far down the rabbit hole goes.
It’s not about Dem’s, or Repub’s, but what is going underneath it all.

It’s not coming guys. It’s here. Right now. And those of us who have been paying attention, and know what is driving what has happened in this country, are seen as, well, out there. It always happens this way. They said the same in the days of the Wiemar Republic. Anyone remember how that ended?
It is not about the banks, the anti’s, the mortgage industry, or jobs being sent over sea’s. Or even the taxes. They are no more than a means to an end. It’s not crookedness, or incompetence. It a very well orchestrated movement that started in this country more than 100 years ago. It is called the progressive movement. In the progressive movement, the agenda is to first tear down the government. Make the people of the US become totally disillusioned with it, Morals, hope, faith, finances, common decency, or sense working hard and becoming a success. Evil , each and every one of these now. Things we were once proud to take pride in. Now something to be ashamed in. Anything that gives stability to a population is attacked, and worse, propagandized in our public schools as evil. The children have already been indoctrinated. And as they say, the children are out future. Well, the future is now. They have taken over every niche of our society.
And it is working brilliantly. It’s called communism folks, And it is not coming. It is here. Right now. Today. And they have won just about all the marbles.
You guys have a hell of a lot of catching up and learning. But is is a little late. Too late I fear.

I had to write in Jesse but that’s one that didn’t go for corruption.
Some of my best friends got limp noodles at the last minute and voted repucklican.
I’m not so sure they really count votes anymore.
They did replace the hacked by design DeBold ballot scanners when the head idiot announced he could deliver the election in Ohio .Crooks are so arrogant and stupid. its just a matter of a little additional screw up and the house of cards will fall.

Am I the only one who sees the irony of (and total shame in) the “American” people fighting each other for different freedoms (2A rights vs same sex marriage, freedom of choice, etc, etc) while the both sides of government let the banks robs us blind and destroy the Constitution (with the majority of Republicans writing and passing the NDAA through Congress and the Democrat president signing it into law)?

If you voted for Romney and actually believe you support 2A rights you are NO different then the liberal you are making fun of. Lack of spine and lack of conviction makes you the exact same type of person regardless of which party you chose to believe in.
Try for one time to vote with CONVICTION and not for who you are told to by the very people who have fucked everything up in the last twenty plus years. This goes for BOTH sides of the voting public. It should go without saying that everyone who voted for Obama lacks that same conviction and spine.

I would never leave my tank standing on its end all by itself.
I’ve seen how far they can travel when the valve is broken off. Not to mention the expansion of gas in a small room would probably be fatal.
I understand that a nitrogen tank supports itself once stood on end…unlike a spineless -EDIT- lib that grew up surrounded by numerous givermint programs supported by lots of taxes on taxes paid by conservatives that feel sorry for lazy. -EDIT- ❗

I ran through 4 refills in 2011, and only one in 2012. Slowed down quite a bit with my shooting.
AirGas has given me a full 6000psi each and every time, but the tank takes a week in transit back and forth from the fill station. I just top off my 3 44’s and I’m fine.
I don’t know how much it cost, my wife never tells me. I only get to lug the tank back and forth and never touch the money. LOL.
Yes its heavy, but I can lift it into the tank holder in my shed by the cap.
I just imagine I’m grabbing a dem0crat by the neck, and I manage. 😉
Hey Mike; I was going thru about 1 ½ tanks a shooting season. I shoot a lot!
IF you could get a 6000 psi Nitrogen tank THAT was filled to 6000 psi, I still think that you would go thru 1 ½-2 fills a year. You have a longer shooting season there than I do here. I don’t go out to the range when the temp is lower than 40 degrees. It just doesn’t work for me trying to shoot groups while I am shivering my ass of!
I think that if you are close to a Firehouse, that is your best bet. Take a box of doughnuts along with your air tanks and the guys will be your best friend!
I was one of the first guys to get a Shoebox, it doesn’t have the new pistons or belt drive. The upgrades cost $100 and RC has done that and he seems happy with it.
Instead of getting the upgrades, I am thinking about selling the unused Shoebox and buying the Freedom 8. The last time that I checked, 2200 psi Nitrogen tanks were cheap to rent and I would need a reg to give 120 psi to the freedom 8.
If I buy a Freedom 8, It would be sweet to just charge my tanks at home! I have a 44 cf and a 66 cf tank that are both getting around 15 years old. I need to buy 2 new 88 cf tanks from Joe. My Boss project is going to be an air hog and I am thinking about a full house Doug Condor and a Haley .257. If I do buy them, the Firehouse guys might get tired of filling my 2, 88 cf tanks every few days.
I could feed the Freedom 8, 120 psi Nitrogen OR; I have an unused pancake compressor, plenty of desiccant for the huge air dryer that I built, and all of the other needed water traps, filters, regulators ect to get the Freedom 8 going.
So far: it is just too damn easy to drive 8-10 blocks for air!
I still want to find out how my bullets work for you. I couldn’t use them and I am waiting for my reworked molds to get back from Veral.
Hey Tedd! Damed valve stem broke. Should be here by Friday. Need to go to the fire station and get the tank filled. Yep. feeling like a bum. Chief will fill it, when and if he is in. Asst. chief says NO WAY! 👿
No idea why the difference. Most times there is no one there, and I know how to use the equipment, but cameras every-where, and can’t risk it. A shame, as I am much more careful with the bottle than they are.
I would like to get a nitrogen tank. Hope they treat me a bit better than they did you.

Before I bought my first PCP, I went and asked the local Fire Chief if I could get my SCBA tanks filled there. I told him what I would use the tanks for and he said “we would be happy to fill the tanks; it would be good for public relations”. After a year or so, I started feeling like a deadbeat asking for free air! I thought that I would start using Nitrogen and quit bothering the guys at the fire house.
Here in central Il. I tried the 6000 psi Nitrogen tank. Air Gas didn’t offer delivery, I had to pick up that heavy fucking tank and get it into my garage. The tanks weigh around 450 pounds.
I got 3 fills from Air Gas. On every fill, they wanted more money and the tanks had less pressure in them. My last tank had 5000 psi in it when I got it home!
As I was using the available pressure up in the last tank, I ordered a Shoebox. The Shoebox didn’t come in until after I had run the Nitrogen tank down past 3000. I fill my Matadors to 3100 so, anything under gives me a partial fill.
I needed air so; I went back to the fire house begging for air. The Firemen are like; hey where have you been, we haven’t seen you in a while! I told them about the Nitrogen fiasco, feeling like a bum asking for air and the Shoebox compressor that I am waiting for. They said that they didn’t have any problems filling my tanks and just cancel my Shoebox order.
I still haven’t hooked up my Shoebox! I really need to but, it is just too damn easy to drive 8-10 blocks to get free air! The only down side about going to the Firehouse is, the guys want to talk and I might have to spend 15-20 minutes there waiting for a fill!
I would be willing to bet that if you guys would show up, at your local Firehouse, with your tanks and a box of doughnuts, you would get a fill!
PS: Mike, have you shot any of the bullets yet or, are you just too damn busy on the TAG to shoot?! 😆
I am in Texas, and ran into the same thing. More like 250+ for a fill.
This was at Texas Airgas. When I told them what fills were going for around the country, the dropped the price to $110.00 fill. No charge for delivery, and rental of $75.00 a year.
Don’t’ be afraid to try and get a better price, and ask for annual lease, rather than monthly. A lot cheaper!
Airgas is a welding supply store, but supplies gases to a lot of different industries. Worth a shot! 😉
I did figure the fills on the Condor tank, (although I will be filling the 4500psi scba tank, and then transferiing. Much safer!).
Filling to 2800psi. and refilling at 1800psi will give apx. 346 fills. Now that’s down right cheap right there! There ya go! (Thats Texas talk for those that don’t know!) 😉 😆

buy a SCBA tank and get it filled at a fire station or at a dive shop.. I have a 66cf SCBA tanks and I can fill my Talon SS tanks 20+ times before it drops below 3k psi. the local dive shop charges $8 per fill, but my buddy fills it at the firehouse for free 😀
Also, check with other welding supply shops.
Some should rent to you.
Also, a 6000 psi tank weighs over 400 pounds.
